    A wasted afternoon 14 Dec 2009
    Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
My daughter received this for her 6th birthday last week so this weekend I decided to be a good mum and spend some time doing 'interesting activities' with her.

However I have to say that, in short, Cookie Creations is dreadful! You need to purchase suitable biscuits which should be round in shape so I bought 3 types - Rich Tea, McV Digestives and Hobnobs. Of these, only Rich Tea didn't crumble into hundreds of pieces once in contact with the Cookie Creations shaping drill (yes, you've guessed it folks - basically the product is a battery-operated file surrounded by useless, brightly coloured plastic).

I found it really difficult to handle the shapes provided (cheap plastic stars etc which didn't secure onto the biscuit) and my 6 year old had no chance! With patience and determination, we did end up with 5 oddly-shaped biscuits which she duly decorated with icing sugar and sugar hearts which I found in the cupboard. She was reasonably happy by the end of it all, but it just leaves me very grumpy.

Ok it's not the end of the world, but am I the only one that gets fed up with the tat we are convinced to buy our children?

    Don't waste your money.

    I hate it 26 Dec 2009
    Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
Just about sums it up, really. I should have realised from last year's "Chocolate Coin Maker" débacle that this useless piece of plastic would turn out to be... well, a useless piece of plastic. I urge everyone to save their money and buy appropriately shaped and iced biscuits in the first place, rather than wasting cash on something that basically cuts biscuits YOU HAVE TO BUY YOURSELF into shape (badly) and then turns them round while you decorate them WITH STUFF YOU HAVE TO BUY YOURSELF.

Shameful what toy manufacturers will pass off as entertainment.

I purchased this from Argos, and it is excluded from it's 30 day money back guarantee, now I know why if the other ratings and mine are anything to go by then probably would be running at a loss if hand to deal with all the returns regarding this abomination. Where do I start..? Right number 1 - the cutting device ( similar to a drill bit ) it's totally unsafe for children whether 6 or above, and slightly precarious even for adults- why?..this brings us on to point 2, the template moves around, and the finished article is nothing like that displayed on the box. Point 3 - the motor stops and starts whether using new batteries or not, and Point 4, YOU have to buy ALL the materials , icing, sprinkles, biscuits etc..As another reviewer said you would be better off making cookie or biscuit dough and using proper metal cutters and decorating the finished article without the need for this piece of rubbish..I'm fuming as my daughter (8) who loves all things creative wasted £13 of her Christms money on this, and we bought it without reading the reviews as was bought there and then as part of a shopping trip /girls day out... stockists and the maufacturers should be hanging there heads in shame for peddling this tosh, knowing that youngsters will be seduced by the colourful and perferct creations on the box and the TV advert, making them nothing better than criminals in my eyes, and trading standards should be made aware. I would put this trash on par with the Chocolate Coin maker and the Ready Steady Cook popcorn maker..STAY CLEAR....!!!!!
