This is one of those handy little things everyone should have at least one of, especially as practically everything charges from USB these days.
So, how does the FX Factory's USB Mains Charger stack up?
Well, it is fairly sturdy; the plastic isn't particularly nice but feels solid. There is a risk it is the type that shatters if dropped on a hard surface, but for regular travel use I doubt it would break, even in hold baggage. On the subject of travel, this is a multi-voltage charger, meaning you can take it to the US or Japan or anywhere else they use 100 volt current and still safely charge your phone or whatever.
The cable seats in well and doesn't fall out, which is a risk seeing as the socket is set on the bottom of the charger when plugged into the wall.
There are a few minus points. The blue charge light is searchlight bright, which makes having one of these next to your bed a bad idea, unless you're a child in need of a nightlight. It really does light up the room. The charger is also not very pretty and a little on the large side and knowing the amount of electronics inside it really doesn't need to be as big as it is.
The output current is standard USB: 1 amp and 5 volts, which makes it safe for all USB charged equipment. If you have an iPad you may want to look for a dedicated charger, since this is not strong enough to charge up an iPad that is turned on, but it will charge it if the iPad is off.
With a low price and a 2 year warranty I can't see any reason not to buy this charger - unless you want it for your bedroom.
