From Faith to Reason - a rocky road
on 9 May 2013
An excellent read of a former minister of religion who left the church after 17 years when he realized that his faith was no longer there and that the bible was no longer in his eyes the inerrant word of god.
It is highly readable, and follows in a very moving way his path through faith then through loss of faith, to reason.
He then looks back over the arguments for the existence of Jesus, of Christianity and even the provenance of the bible - and finds them all lacking. Definitively he picks through the bones and finds them all wanting.
You can hear how it is almost with sadness in the beginning, and then with pure reason afterwards, than he examines each argument, and finds in favour of reason.
Ultimately he decides that there is no evidence to say that Jesus ever existed, instead that he was just another manifestation of the resurrection gods like Horus etc over thousands of years. The bible merely a collection of stories over thousands of years, and certainly not written by or at the behest of a non-existent god.
Rather than being sad or depressed at this apocryphal moment, he actually seems relieved and happy - no longer weighed down by the oppression and shadow that religion and a jealous god brings with it.
Highly recommended - especially if you are into religion of any kind - it could set you free!
