5.0 out of 5 stars This is one seriously cool book 14 July 2009

I purchased an autographed copy of this book from Fireside Angler in NY and received the book 4 days later.
I just got it 10 minutes ago, I can see it will save me a lot of time flipping through back issues and surfing the web for patterns. As I have come to expect from this team, the quality of the photography is outstanding.

As a relatively new tier I am not qualified to comment on the quality of the examples - I'm hoping they are good ones because I will be utilizing them as my example for many years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing.. 6 Jan 2012

I find it very strange that this doesn't have many reviews.. Sure this isn't really your typical step by step guide on the subject, but if you intend on trying out an endless variety of flies, this is THE one book to own. I scanned through the majority of this and the photography is perfect. It's simply a catalog of flies with the materials needed, but a very good one at that. I've never seen anywhere close to this many patterns throughout ALL of the other 20+ books I currently own. I didn't count, but it claims over 3600!

This isn't cheap, but it's most definitely worth it.
5.0 out of 5 stars A collectors item 19 Jan 2013

A must have for tiers and collectors alike. Came on time and was spotless. I have already used it to look up flies several times.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book 28 April 2011

Yes this is expensive, but well worth the money, for me at least. I have been tying fly's for 30 years and have dozens of fly tying books like most who partake in this wonderful hobby do. This one is a true treasure with thousands of patterns with outstanding photo's. The first chapter is a brief introduction to materials and other incidental topics. This is a brief but informative chapter well worth the short time to read. The chapters that follow are introduced by beautiful full color art painted by artist Mike Stidham.

Though expensive, if this is the only book you buy on the topic it will serve you well for years. I believe this 1st edition first printing will be a collectors item and in the end, if properly cared for, a fine investment.
