As a charity anthology, for only a handful of pennies, it would be churlish (and uncharitable!) to pick at the loose threads in this e-book, which could perhaps have benefited by a little more editing. That aside, 30 stories means even if you don't like them all, there's something for everyone! Here's my favourite three :

A cloud Over the Sun, A.A. Garrison
One of the best stories I've read for switching POV. Masterly done! Would have loved a soupcon of more threat from the final phone call... An earlier suggestion of a barrier crossed, before bringing it home with the darkness that is to come!

Harvest Home : Linton Robinson
I'm a sucker for a clever ending, and this delivers. It's stronger in the second half than the first, I think it tries to be a little coy about the threat faced, whereas of course that's not the surprise!

Synesthesia : E.E. King
A novel idea - and I love the ending. Wonder if telling it from a male perspective was the best approach though? Something about the sensory overload, seems to resonate more from a female perspective...

Mostly enjoyable, but not remotely creepy or scary.

Some stories were just a bit twisted in this collection. Some stories just didn't make much sense, but were readable.

There were quite a few typos, which could do with being corrected as it distracts from the storyline.

Good buy, although I thought the stories in the second volume were more interesting and had fewer errors!

FEAR is a largely enjoyable collection of short horror stories that offers something for every fan of the genre, and serves as a great alternative for those who don't have time to read a full novel. Tales range from zombies, to revenge stories, to stories of man eating cars, and most are very well told. Although the anthology starts off strongly, I did feel it dipped a little in the middle before regaining its strength again towards the end.

A couple of highlights for me were - Octavia, the tale of a brother who wants to cure his sister of her fear of spiders, only for things to take a disastrous turn for the worse, and my favourite story, Church Farm House, a haunting tale with a serial killer mystery wrapped inside it.
