When I saw Fear Itself been shown on TV last year, I missed the first couple of episodes, so, thinking they were a continuous series, I waited until the DVD came out. For those who haven't seen Fear Itself was a compilation of horror stories, all unrelated to one another, (almost like an adults version of Goosebumps). To begin with, I was quiet enjoying it, the first three episodes are very well done, in terms of story, acting and just quality, (involving a vampire preying on an isolated community/a private detective and a haunted house/a man who, after a car crash, wakes up in the body of a serial killer). Sadly, the series goes downhill, FAST. It just seems like everyone only made half an effort, and I was surprised at just how bad one episode; 'New Years Day', was, considering its a zombie one written by Steve Niles, (30 Days of Night). Apart from starring (the stunningly gorgeous) Briana Evigan, there wasn't any other good thing about the whole episode. Another one, 'Eater', falls flat on its face with an underdeveloped story. This tends to be the trend with the rest of the series, they take a good idea and the end result is disappointing, - pity, because as I mentioned the first three episodes get everything right. Worse, some of the latter ones through in ill attempts at humourous moments, - one, regarding the sole survivor of a hunting party possessed by a wendigo is unwelcome and ruined the whole thing. It's just like they ran out of time and had to wrap the show up. Worth one watch, but I don't thing I'll bother again.
