At the price of £2.99 plus free delivery these are very good value.
(Price now £2-20 plus £0-49 delivery at last check, April 2014).
I'm using mine (I've bought 2 so far) with the Arduino that I'm experimenting with as it's so useful to have a means of outputting info to a screen when the Arduino is working but not connected to a PC.
Did not come with any info or with any header pins, so as the earlier reviewer has suggested it might be worth buying some header pins to make connection easier to Breadboards, Arduino etc.
Note that the only downside to using this display compared to some of the more expensive LCD's available is that connection is not by I2C so a few more wires are required - typically 12 of the 16 pads on this display need to be connected. However I didn't find that to be much of a problem and an acceptable trade-off for this low price.

Once working it is easy to display data, the display has clear white lettering on a blue background.

Seems a first class product so 5 stars. I'll come back in a few months with an update.

Update - April 2014, I've been using the 1st unit for 5 months now with no problems. I have not left the backlight on all the time (to save a little power), the unit works faultlessly and I cannot see why it should not last.

This LCD screen works exactly like most others as it uses the same Hitachi commands and pin assignments. If you are using the Arduino and the standard LCD library, remember to set it up to 16 by 2.
I believe the backlight is 5 volts and takes a maximum of 20 mA.
I have tried this on an Arduino Due (a 3.3V board) and experimented by putting Vo and Vdd to 3.3V and it works although you can use it at 5V and on other boards such as the Arduino Uno (5V input/output).
You will need the backlight as the text is white on blue.
For the price I paid, I thought it was excellent value. I do like it.

I ordered this and was very happy with the packaging and quality of it.

I soldered it the same day and it's better than the initial LCD display on my ART SXG2000 Express.

I would like it better if it came with already soldered pins (I don't like soldering) since you can use breakaway headers from the same company and little jumper leads to plug and play.

I bought one of these for a PIC project I'm developing. It's the first time I've used an LCD display, so I had a few 'teething' problems to start with, but that was down to me and my PIC program, not the display. It seems to conform to data I got from the internet regarding timings, control codes etc. It did take a while to arrive, but I was in no rush as I was working on other projects. It's working great at the moment, I might use one of these in the finished project. No complaints.

Build a scrolling message board? Done. Build a temperature and fan speed display unit for your mates high end PC? I'm getting there. See other reviews for the header pins.

Works fine, but the backlight is necessary, can barely see anything without (unlike a green LCD display). Backlight LED draws 7mA for reasonable illumination - I used a 1n4148 dode to drop the 5V rail. LED let into a clear plastic block provides the backlighting, and is a little uneven, but at this price who worries.

A good display for the price. Much cheaper than buying a shield with the same display unit on it. The contrast is not brilliant but at this price you can't go wrong. I bought a second one on the strength of my experience first time round
