5.0 out of 5 stars Great little machine 27 Dec 2011
Verified Purchase
I bought this machine just before Christmas as a previous (D-Link) printer server of mine had died. The machine has a nice form factor and a handy 4 USB ports for connecting printers, hard drives ec.

The machine was a snap to set up. I read the instructions and had it all done in under 15 minutes while watching a DVD. The printing works great. Haven't tried the scanning yet but hopeful that that will work as advertised and on form of experience so far it should do so.

I paid 30 with free delivery which I thought was a fantastic price for a product like this. In fact it was such good value that I was almost expecting there to be something materially wrong with it! Delivery from XSonly was speedy and efficient.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected 29 Feb 2012
By Vectra
The home base did exactly what it says on box. Following the quick installation guide to the letter I soon had my Cannon Pixma printer spewing out paper wirelessly fed from 3 different computers, and all I had to do was enter my Wireless password during the initial setup and install the software on all pcs. A very painless and easy process. I had a spare USB hard drive and decided to add that, again no probs. To test it all I saved some music to this hard drive from one pc while playing music on a another pc stored on the same drive. The result?, again no problems, I don't want to say if it was fast or slow, it just did it perfectly. Next the scanner, again no probs. You will have to make sure that all relevant drivers for the printer and scanner are installed on all pc's, so dig out those installation cd's. I have to say that the Belkin box does the job very well and is perfect for my little home network. The USB hard drive I added now allows files to be shared amongst the family in a unbelieveably easy manner. The workgroup configuration just happens, Great!. The extras such as photo uploads to Flikcr etc have yet to be tested.
In conlusion this is not a NAS server but simply an solution to allow all memebers of the family to print, scan an share files with no effort. If you had the skill to set up your wireless router in the first place then this will be even easier to configure.

1.0 out of 5 stars Home base wireless USB Server 14 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase
I bought this server for 1 reason to connect wirelessly to 2 HP printers, both of which are over 3 years old. This was one of few devices that claimed to work with Printers. Started well, the server connected to my network, then I connected to a external Hard Drive fine working well, the next component was a HP photosmart printer C5180, just think how pleased I was to find that the server software found and recognised the printer, at this point it all went wrong, asked me to load the drivers but would not allow access to browse (the printer drivers were already on the computer). After 3 months on and off trying get the system working, I found out that it wouldn't work as I was using Windows 7 operating system (which I have been using for at least 3 years prior to purchasing this product). Contacted Belkin to be told that they had not developed the drivers for Windows 7 yet). So anyone thinking of purchasing this product should ensure that they are using XP or Vista.
