Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review:

In a nutshell:
The world’s scariest first person shooter makes a return with an expansion packed filled with more ghostly apparitions and gun fetishism than you could ever want.

The lowdown:
Despite having some of the best graphics and artificial intelligence of any recent first person shooter, as well as the creepiest atmosphere, the original F.E.A.R. didn’t do nearly as well as it deserved. This expansion offers a second chance to see what you were missing with a story that picks up immediately from the end of the original game as you try to escape the destruction of the Origin Facility. The expansion doesn’t really add much that is new beyond a few new weapons (including some super useful sentry guns) and enemies (such as a giant walking tank) and it is rather short but it’s still got the best gunfights in the business.

Most exciting moment:
Despite the Japanese horror influenced atmosphere, the best thing about F.E.A.R. is just how intelligent your enemies are. They’ll constantly try to outflank and outmanoeuvre you and many times you’ll only be saved by the use of your essential bullet time ability. In the end it’s your intelligent opponents you fear the most, not the virtual ghosts.

Since you ask:
The reason that there are no new multiplayer options in the game is that a free update has already been released called F.E.A.R. Combat. In an unusually generous move you can download it for nothing from the F.E.A.R. website at www.joinfear.com.

The bottom line:
More of the same of one of the most underrated shooters of last year.-HARRISON DENT

Still up there.... 30 Oct 2006
Fun:
I rated the original 5 stars. For obvious reasons. However i have a slight niggle with this one hence the 4 stars.Whilst the first one had more of a scary physcological approach to it.(i understand a different studio was blessed with this expansion pack). It seems they feel reducing gameplay to almost total darkness in levels is the way to 'scare' people. Its really irritating that even with the brightness maxed up it it so dark in places(even with the flashlight on) it seems on occasions unplayable. The usual enemies occur of course(an older alma.Naked!) and at times i feel its much of the same.Although you do get far more forces thrown at you(and the odd different weapon)all be it in almost pitch black darkness. If this title was released a little quicker i think it would have retained its edge.Dont get me wrong though. Its still a great game. And you still must have it especially for £17 quid.A little more story board imagination the next time around would push this title back up into the 90's plus as opposed to the 80's.

Wow great game 1 Nov 2006
Fun:
I would have given F.E.A.R: Extraction Point Expansion Pack 5 stars but it ends a bit strange, my only feeling is that there is going to be a FEAR 2 or another expansion pack because it left me feeling at a bit of a loose end.

But with that said the game is as good if not better than the original. I recommend playing it at night with the lights off, it's better than any horror movie i've ever seen!! It has a great atmosphere and makes you jump out of your skin!!!

the graphics are great but i recommend turning off any antivirus as it can make the game slow up quite a bit.

I really hope they carry on with the FEAR story as it's one of the best games i've ever played.....Good job SIERRA & Co

Fun:
If you need more FEAR in your life you will love this, carries on were the last one finished. Game play is up to the high standard of the first instalment but strangely seems to play slightly better and levels seem more detailed plus you have a few new cool weapons at your disposal.

If you liked the first game and you can (or need) to leave FEAR COMBAT alone for a while get this.
