this item has a tendency to collapse in on its self
when any weight is put on it.the locking pins do not
hold it tight to the sides.

Rubbish, don't touch this with a bargepole there are much better shelves out there from reputable companies. When the shelf was extended it was loose and too easy to move outwards or inwards. This meant the shelf was unstable, unsafe in a hot oven. I returned the item and received full refund.

Not very safe
Locking pins don't keep the shelf extended, they just slide in and out.
Not good when supporting trays in the oven.

Bad buy, unfortunately i got 2.
