Good But Flawed 22 Oct 2011

If you are interested in astronomy you will find this DVD well worth a look,as it follows the development of the telescope and our understanding of the universe. It works best as a companion to another esa DVD,Hubble 15 Years Of Discovery, infact it leads up to that one very well, but it does work on its own. There are plenty of facts and figures, and some fascinating insights into various telescopes around the world, and what is to come over the next few years. It was made in 2008 however, and doesnt look further than 2013,so in this respect it is showing its age a little. But if you are into this subject,as I am,then it is well worth it.

The only real flaw with it,is that it is presentend in a very clinical and sterile manner.I do not doubt the presenter,Dr J,is a very knowledgeable man,but fronting such a programme is not his forte, which is why I stress this is one for people who are into this subject. It presumes you already have a working knowledge of things, and if you dont it will leave you a little cold.It isnt as user friendly say,as Wonders Of The Universe, and or Solar System. But on the whole I think it is well worth owning. You also get a CD of the soundtrack,as you did with the Hubble DVD I mentioned, but lets just say like most soundtracks, that is all it works as.
