Simply beautiful 26 Aug 2008
By Tara
Format:Paperback
This is a fantastic book! My son and I, who is 9, read this together and for the first time in years he laid down and was simply hypnotised by the swirling imagery of Africa and Alaska and the beautiful language that seemed to weave a spell as it told the sad, yet uplifting story of the boy and the wolf who were brought togther through a shared experience of adversity. It is now our favourite book and proof that children can enjoy something more advanced than silly antics and simplistic language.
Read it and see!

This is an absolute gem of a novel! Sparkling prose and beautiful imagery weave together to draw the reader into the two worlds of the boy and the wolf. It's a lyrical read with an important ecological message or two to tell.

A little book that I read to myself and I expect my kids will love. This book is one of those rare finds that spans all ages, from a read aloud story to little ones to grown ups who love a good yarn! Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Five Star 29 Dec 2009
A Kid's Review
Format:Paperback
This book is very interesting in the way it is written. It doesn't have a running plot, but tells anecdotes that tell the two characters' - a captive wolf and a boy - stories. It is an amazing idea and quite sad in places. I read it when I was 11 and still think it is one of my favourite stories ever. If you love animals then you will really love this book.
