On last years holiday my wife was eaten alive by mozzies, so this year we decided to go well prepared, and this band seemed like a good weapon to have in the arsenal!
Within a couple of hours she had several bites, one less than 6" from the band on her arm.
After an hour in the sea, the top came off the capsule and whatever was supposed to be inside it came out.
So, far from giving 4 to 6 weeks of protection, it didn't even manage 4 hours, and even that was seemingly useless. Perhaps the mozzies didn't understand that it was supposed to keep them away.
To be fair though, we also had a number of other Deet products with us, and they all proved to be of extremely questionable value.

We bought 4 of these for a 2 week break. On opening, they were strongly scented, and we all had high expectations of not being bitten. We each wore them on the wrist, and after 3 days, I had sustained 30 bites, one of which was where just under where the band was worn. On the 4th day, one of our group had a similar number of bites, and a couple of days later, the remaining 2 travellers each had a handful of bites. We each used a 50% DEET spray too, so I think that perhaps despite all precautions, some bugs are resistant to anything used.

Thrilled to bits with this product! Am extremely allergic to many biting, stinging insects & have used many different repellants over past 6years, but this one was def. the best yet. So easy to use & absolutely no mess or unpleasant smell(as some wristbands have) & throughout the season whilst I was wearing it, I wasn't bitten or stung at all!! It is also much longer lasting than many of the others available. So I will definitely be repeating this order next summer!! I would highly recommend this to anyone with similar problems.
