Don't bother, this book was a total disappointment. It takes a number of reported hauntings/bewitchings and tries to debunk each one. The debunking is poor and stretched pitifully thin, a lot of it is attributed to young girls' mischief, memory problems of witnesses, 'young people of a lively disposition and morbid imagination', etc. There was no serious questioning of the nature of the events - it is clear that the author had his mind made up and this book reads like a justification of his views. The book was cheap, but I have no interest beyond the first couple of chapters. I would have liked to know that this book was only about attempts to debunk paranormal events before I bought it. The editorial section / product description was not accurate, as there was no description of any real hauntings.

I really like the paranormal stories but this book was not a great one. I prefer to be wowed and I was not with this book. It over analyzes situations and is way too wordy. I would not recommend this book.

I am not a big fan of the paranormal, but this classic got my attention and delivered. I thoroughly enjoyed the cases and their analysis. This book is necessarily for the true believers, because the author is somewhat a skeptic, but it is for those who still have an open mind about the subject. I found it quite helpful.
