DVD Description

He's ridden through Africa in the award winning series Long Way Down, braved the wilds of the North on his 20,000 mile Long Way Round adventure and now Charley Boorman, accompanied by producer/director Russ Malkin, is about to launch his latest adventure - a new and exciting adventure expedition that really gets under the skin of an entire country. Charley Boorman's Extreme Frontiers follows Charley's epic 10,300 mile journey across Canada, the world's second largest country. Travelling principally on motorbikes, the series sees Charley and Russ traversing each of the 10 Canadian Provinces, two frontiers, three oceans and four extreme frontiers from East to West revealing a unique insight into this beautiful country. Never before has Charley had the opportunity to deeply explore one country. Each episode sees them embark on a series of dangerous, frightening, inspiring and hilarious tasks from canoeing to rodeo, heli-mountain biking to ice hockey. Charley Boorman's Extreme Frontiers also sees Charley braving the impressive 8,000m peak Mount Fable in Alberta and overcoming his claustrophobia whilst wreck diving in Lake Huron. Every challenge reveals the breathtaking wilderness of Canada, its people and its diverse culture. It sees the team delve into its rich history whilst being pushed to the limit in a series of often tough challenges.

First of all: I enjoyed Long Way Round, Long Way Down (not as good as LWR but okay), Race to Dakar, By any Means (great!!!) and By any means II (very disappointing).
I didn't expect a LWR as I bought Extreme Frontiers but nevertheless I was very disappointed.
There was nothing left from all the interesting experiences and charme of Boorman as there was in other trips.
I was glad to see Russ Malkin again but unfortunately there was nothing to see of the old friendship between Charley and Russ as we saw in By any means or LWR. Also there were nearly no interesting stories - Canada is such an interesting place and there must definately be more to see as is shown in Extreme Frontiers.
The whole "soul" of past adventures is gone and I really missed them in this show. It seems, that Charley lost interest in this kind of adventures after By any means, because By any means II wasn't so good as well.

For the future: More LWR (perhaps Long Way Up with Ewan), more By any means I (less bikes though).

DVD was in good shape and quality was okay. A DVD that will stay in my shelf but probably will never being watched again (I watch LWR and BAM twice a year).

Nicely done, good narration of Charlie's adventure around Canada. It's a good mix of outdoor adventure and experience rolled into one DVD for all to enjoy, makes me want to ride my GS and head of to an adventure!
