Book Description

23 May 2013
Actor and passionate fisherman Robson Green is on a mission to discover the weird, the wonderful and the way-off-limits that the angling world has to offer. Working alongside some of the finest in their field, his exhilarating adventure series Extreme Fishing with Robson Green takes him to the greatest fishing destinations ever seen; chasing the most elusive and terrifying creatures on the planet, learning new tricks, hearing old stories and eating pretty much everything he catches. From ice fishing in Siberia, mining eggs on the side of an active volcano in Papua New Guinea and struggling with the Mekong Giant Catfish in Thailand, to surviving a Force 10 hurricane on a Canadian trawler, catching a thirty-pound King Salmon in Patagonia and dancing the Salsa in Havana, this is an extraordinary modern-day fishing odyssey with tales of victory, defeat, struggle and joy. Complete with exclusive off-camera capers, top locations and best and worst catches, this laugh-out-loud adventure is jam-packed full of facts, fishing tips and, most importantly, fun.

Review

"Even an armchair angler will enjoy this TV-series-as-book... The weird, the wonderful, and surprisingly funny" --Sunday Express

About the Author

Born in Northumberland on 18 December 1964, Robson Green is one of the best known faces on British Television. He has been associated with a number of the most celebrated television dramas of recent times including Soldier Soldier, Reckless, Touching Evil and Wire in the Blood. Robson still lives in Northumberland and spends whatever spare time he has seeing his Son Taylor, fishing, reading, walking and going to the gym. This is his first fishing book. Charlotte Reather first spied Robson Green across a sea of meat-heads and spray-tanned strippers at a cage-fight at the Radisson Edwardian, Heathrow, and asked if she could interview the actor for a magazine. Robson says, 'It was fate and when I read the article I instantly knew Charlotte was the only person who could write this book. She is a serious talent, hilarious, gifted and inspired.' Charlotte writes comedy scripts for TV and film. She is a columnist and contributor to several magazines and newspapers including, NFU Countryside, The Field, Country Life and the Daily Telegraph. She lives with her husband in Washington DC and this is her first book. www.charlottereather.com 'Charlotte is incredibly funny, fearless and terrifyingly ambitious. Look out world!' Maurice Gran, co-creator of Birds of a Feather

5.0 out of 5 stars Can we go fishing now? 27 April 2014

This is a wonderful book. You don't have to be a angler to like this book. There isn't any specific angling jargon that you can't understand. I love this book, because it is about a man who lives his dream. But not just that, even a dream will have ups and downs and Robson Green doesn't hold back. He tells you how it is, he shows you how enjoyable angling can be for anybody. He is open about his experience at far away places. For me this book brought out all the emotions from good to sad, but mostly good and happy. It is not often that I will read a book that makes me openly laugh out loud and have my family look at me funny! I hope he will be writing down some more of his extreme fishing adventures. I should also mention that when I read this book I would look at the title of the chapter first, then watch the matching episode of "Extreme Fishing" before I would read that chapter in the book and it made for a awesome companion. I looked back at some at the scenes of the episode and would go:" oh so that's why Robson made that face!" Little tidbits just became much clearer. So I highly recommend for "Extreme Fishing" lovers to read this book and possibly re-watch some of the episodes!

Have loved watching the series on the TV. An easy read, probably covers too much ground to really give a feel for what is going on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed it 28 Dec 2013
Format:Hardcover
I like the show: like many fisherman, somewhat jealous of what RG gets to do! The book was a present. I'm not sure how skilled RG is as a fisherman and I can see why some in the pro side of the sport are not his biggest fans.... but I really warmed to him as i read about his adventures. I would recommend this book if you liked the show. Very funny in places.

I would have preferred more of the story as to how the show came into being, and where it is going. Perhaps with brief overview on all the species caught. But very glad I took the time to read it.
