5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent 7 Dec 2002
Well, i had submitted a review for this a few days ago, but it would appear it's not going to appear on this page so this is another review that i hope actually makes it on...
Extreme Euphoria...it was the defining sound of 2002 for me. Lisa Lashes pulled together an album of hard dance and hard house that consisted of the most banging tunes, the catchiest hooks, the best pacing of an album she's ever done (which is saying something), and it was just raw energy in a box. It put a grin across my face like nothing but her live sets have done.
So it was with some trepadition i got my grubby little paws on this, Extreme Euphoria Vol.2 - could it ever live up to the original Extreme? Had there been enough material in the interviening 6-7 months to warrent a new album? Let me put you straight right now - it lives up to Extreme Vol.1 and perhaps pushes it a little beyond.
There's a huge ammount of excellent tunes on here, though Track 1 'James Lawson - Energise' seemed a bit slow at first. Wrong! It's an excellent intro track, and when it breaks into track 2 you know Lisa is firmly at the helm in clear waters and she knows exactly what you want to hear before you yourself. The tunes, delivery and mixing are all sublime. Track 3 'Guyver - Man On The Moon' sent shivers down my spine as soon as i heard the legendary vocal (you WILL have heard it). The whole album delivers the same throughout. A great achievement for Lisa, a DJ at the very top of her genre, who just continues to improve. Frankly I'm worried as to whether i can actually handle the pace and excitement of Extreme Vol.3 if it ever appears...
The best thing about the Extreme albums is it's absolutely clear that Lisa loves what she's doing just as much as you. A true talent and entertainer who is clearly living the DJ dream. That it comes through on the CD is a tribute to the quality of the album.
If you like music with pace, attitude and energy you'll love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The girl can do no wrong! 3 Dec 2002
By A Customer
Having purchased the first Extreme Euphoria I thought it would be very hard to beat. Everything in my opinion was perfect. The mixing was seamless, but from Lisa Lashes it was something I expected. The tune selection faultless, combining many labels as opposed to just Tidy releases. The balance of trance, house and techno influences was impressive. So I expected very good things from this edition. The latest edition is on a level with the first in terms of quality.
Initially I was slightly put off by the number of old tunes remixed. The James Lawson remix of BK's 'Bad Ass' and the Warp Bros remix of the uplifting JFK 'Good God' for example made me feel uneasy. I feared they were going to be horribly murdered because the originals were so good. Not for the first time I was wrong, because the mixes are fresh and stomping. There is not a bad track on the compilation and they all compliment each other due to the phenominal mixing of Lisa Lashes. The tunes merge so seamlessly it just flows. It really is a showcase of hard house now! Again, all the major labels are in there, not just Tidy.
Two little annoyances are that JFK 'Good God' and K90 'Red Snapper' were a little abrupt, and that the whole compilation feels too biased towards hard trance.
However I am being picky, for the two tunes mentioned are big tunes for me, and hard trance is a very popular form of hard dance.
This is a cracking album by a very popular DJ (read the CD sleeves). I am seeing Lisa Lashes DJ very soon so I will have to congratulate her for this masterpiece. This CD oozes quality!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surpassed my expectations 14 Dec 2002
By A Customer
I loved the first EE CD mixed by Lisa Lashes and to be honest, felt the state of the music at the harder end of the spectrum had gone off the boil a bit. However i got this anyway and was very pleasantly surprised. Seems Lisa has managed to dig out some great material and thankfully for me, contains mainly stuff from the more melodic end of the hard trance/hard dance spectrum. The rather tired Hard House sound has been replaced with a fuller experience - for me anyway. CD1 bangs along as you'd expect and while CD2 does tend to get into the harder stuff, it contains some corkers. If you liked CD1 or felt it didnt quite live up to expectations, i think you'd love this one. Hard, but fulfilling!

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent 2 Dec 2002
I bought this on release day with the twitchy fingers of excitement. The last Extreme Euphoria was the saviour of the Euphoria label in my eyes. It was and is the defining album of the year. 2002 has been a good one for me, and Extreme Vol.1 just takes me right back. Extreme was also a brilliant achievement for Lisa herself, surpassing all her previous efforts with ease. Hard House and Hard House Vol.2 (her previous Euphoria outings) were eclipsed by the musical masterpeice that was Extreme. So it was with considerable excitement and a sense of unease that i drove to the shops today to get this album. Was Extreme a fluke? Has there been enough new material in the interveining 7 or 8 months to make another double album? I should never have worried...
The album starts off well, Energise being a solid track, but feeling a little like filler track than a start of album track. I was mildly concerned until Lisa exquisitly mixed into track 2 'Epidemic'. That is the stuff! And it just keeps getting better and better. The ability to pace her albums shown on the last Extreme is present and improved on this second volume. It starts fast, it gets faster and it gets harder. By track three i had a grin on my face like nothing i'd had since listening to Extreme Vol.1. The grin stays in place the whole album.
Great tracks, by an unchallenged master DJ who continues to improve with every release she makes. Hard House and Hard Dance seem to be the only Dance genre's that are actually flourishing and developing recently. Trance and Dance got stuck in a quagmire some time ago, holding on to existance in the commercial scene but seeing very little development. Hard House continues to evolve and progress. And it's DJ's like Lisa who are shaping the scene and forging the future.
Get this album if you want raw energy and excitement thrust upon you by someone who knows exactly what she's doing and knows what you want to hear before even you do.
