5.0 out of 5 stars LIVING DANGEROUSLY! 17 Sep 2002
By A Customer
Format:DVD
ECW-LIVING DANGEROYSLY 99----21st March 1999----Asbury Park,NJ

1)Yoshihiro Tajiri VS Super Crazy.
(This was a great match as usual with these two.Lots of aerial moves and near falls.WWE should sign Super Crazy and put him against Tajiri or Rey Mysterio Jr.Good match but for some reason I like their match at Guilty As Charged 99 more)

2)Balls Mahoney VS Steve Corino.
(This was too short. Both men can do better. This was when Corino had brown hair and wasn't known for getting busted open.Still an entertaining little match with a decent ending)

3)Little Guido VS Antifaz Del Norte.
(I thought this match was pretty good as far as moves go but the crowds "boring" chants ruined it)

4)ECW TV TITLE-Rob Van Dam(c) VS Jerry Lynn.
(A 5 star classic from start to finish. Most people say how good the RVD-Lynn match at Hardcore Heaven 99 is and they are right but I actually think this match is better.Highlights include a Lynn doing a tornado DDT off the ropes to the outside onto a table which doesn't break.Instead both men bounce off to the floor. Also RVD kicks a chair into Lynn's face sending him flying off the rope through a table outside.RVD hits his frog splash and Lynn does a nasty piledriver and spinning DDT)

5)New Jack VS Mustafa.
(Despite New Jack totally messing up a guitar shot this is a very entertaining fight.Great to see the former Gangstas go one on one for the first time.Another big New Jack dive at the end)

6)Dudley Boys VS Nova & Spike Dudley.
(I don't know why people say this is a good match. It isn't really a match...)

7)Tommy Dreamer & Shane Douglas VS Lance Storm & Justin Credible.
(Not a bad match but I expected better cosidering who's in the match....

8)ECW & FTW TITLES-Taz(ECW champ) VS Sabu(FTW champ).
(This was a unification match and another 5 star match.I think this was even better than their match at Barely Legal.Highlights include a Tazplex over the ropes through a table and an awesome dragon suplex through a table on Sabu. But its not all Taz because Sabu manages to land his springboard moonsault and top rope hurricanrana.Excellent main event and a great way to end the show)

Overall this was one of the best ECW shows of 99.It is definitely the best Living Dangerously of the 3.The RVD-Lynn match and the Sabu-Taz match alone make this worth buying. But add the Tajiri-Crazy and New Jack-Mustafa and this is a 5 star ECW PPV.Even the matches I said were disappointing were not bad matches but just the weaker matches on the card.Definitely well worth the money. This PPV featured a Rob Van Dam - Jerry Lynn TV Title match which was a bona fide classic and also featured a gruelling World title unification match between Taz and Sabu and a pretty good tag match between the team of Shane Douglas and Tommy Dreamer versus The Impact Players - Lance Storm and Justin Credible.Overall a tape worthy of entry into everyones collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars ECW Living Dangerously 1999 5 May 2000
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Extreme Championship Wrestling produced the goods yet again with another excellent pay-per-view supercard. In a full run-down of the card...

In the opening contest, Yoshihiro Tajiri faced (for the umpteenth time) Super Crazy in a superb match with high spots galore. Balls Mahoney destroyed young Steve Corino in a good contest. FBI member Little Guido tangled with Antifaz del Norte in mildly disappointing bout. World Television champion Rob Van Dam took on Jerry lynn in a blinding match-up with fantastic performences from both men. Former tag partners New Jack and Mustafa faught all over the joint in a wild brawl.

The Dudley Boyz then slowed the show down in their own distinctive way with a rather boring angle involving Nova, Spike Dudley and "No-sell" Sid Vicious. Picking up speed again, Shane Douglas teamed up with Tommy Dreamer to face The Impact Players - Justin Credible and Lance Storm in a respectable contest. And finally, Taz defended the World Heavyweight title againt "FTW champ" Sabu in a highly entertaining main event.

An brilliant card with great matches, Living Dangerously '99 was a very memorable event that deserves a spot in every wrestling fan's collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A top ppv With 3 great main events. 7 Dec 2001
Format:DVD
This is a great ppv in my opinion. It has 3 great matches which are all main event standard. A great high flying match to begin with Tajiri going against Super Crazy. Little Guido going against a Mexican nobody who i cant even remember his name. The Dudley Boys continue their war with their little brother spike. Steve Corino has a short but good match with Axl Rotten. Former tag team partners Mustafa and New Jack have a brutal hardcore match. In the 1st of the great main events RVD puts the tv title on the line against Jerry Lynn in an amazing skilled match of the year possibility in a 20min time limit match. The 2nd main event with the Impact Players Lance Storm & Justin Credible vs Tommy Dreamer & Shane Douglas in a great match and a unification match between Sabu and Taz for the ece & ftw world titles in another match of the year.

3.0 out of 5 stars 3 good matches the rest is poor 2 July 2004
Format:DVD
The event saw the beginning of the brilliant RVD and Jerry Lynn feud, although many wrestling fans may not have seen the best of these men (as their talents have been wasted in the WWE) I can assure you they are the best 2 wrestlers in the business. This is a very good match, it is fast very fast paced, a few near falls, countless reversals and creative/spectacular use of tables and chairs. This was their first encounter, and although it wipes the floor with most other wrestling matches you will have seen, it can't touch their rematches on other ECW PPV's. This is a truly great match, even if you have seen all their other encounters, this is where it began and is well worth seeing.

Tommy Dreamer and Shane Douglas vs The Impact Players (Lance Storm and Justin Credible) is not that spectacular, but it is still pretty entertaining. The 4 wrestlers and their managers use the ECW rules (or lack of) to their full potential and ensure that there action never stops, at no point are all four men lying on the floor or taking a breather, there is always something happening, which means the match never loses any momentum. It is a well thought through match and the constant interference from both teams' managers gives this an unpredictable element. It isn't anything that you haven't seen before but it is still good to watch.

The main event Sabu vs Taz, is a good advert for the ECW's brand of wrestling, it had plenty of spectacular table breaks, chair shots and brawling in the crowd, but they don't let it get in the way of putting on a wrestling match. The pace is relatively quick, and the innovative use of furniture is backed up by entertaining wrestling. The end to the match isn't as spectacular as you may hope for, but you can't fault the competitor's efforts after they put on such a good show....

The rest of the video is a bit bland, Tajiri vs Super Crazy never lives up to expectations, Steve Corino vs Ball Mahoney is short and pointless, same goes for Guido vs Antifaz Del Norte (I don't have a clue who he is either!). New Jack vs Mustafa, and Dudley's vs Spike and Nova are just chaotic brawls, which aren't that entertaining. New Jack does his traditional balcony dive, which will either be spectacular or just repetitive depending on how many times you have seen him do one. And Sid makes an appearance breaking tables to spectacular effect.

Overall the whole event is below ECW's standards, the 3 main matches I mentioned are all good efforts, and save the event from disaster. As entertaining they these matches are, they are not the best you will see in Extreme Championship Wrestling, they are undoubtedly worth watching but there are better ECW videos out there Read more ›
