5.0 out of 5 stars top value for money 27 Nov 2005
Basing my review on unit cost, this stick is the best for the money. Ever used a stick and had the feeling it was going to come unstuck? nope, not with this beauty. Weighty feel to the stick gives a sense of confidence, it feels progressive when moving it.
It's not too tall either, if you're (like me) using it on your desk above the pull-out keyboard drawer you don't tend to get any wrist ache.
I think its great, really do, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best joystick ever 12 Feb 2007
I have had this joystick for a year now and it is simply brilliant.

The controls dont get stuck and the throttle has pinpoint accuracy. I use for IL-2 sturmovik (Highly recommended PC game) and it is perfect. It really helps give a sense of realism to all flight sims and is superb value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic joystick 1 Jun 2005
I bought this joystick to use with my Microsoft Flight Simulator games. It's a great joystick, and I can't find anything bad to say about it.
Of course, there are better joysticks, but this is one of the best at this price. It comes with a CD-ROM which installs a profiler onto your PC so that you can configure the buttons with all your games.
It is very easy to connect, as it has a USB connection. Just plug it in and play.
The joystick is very easy to use (especially with the twist handle function) and provides maximum gameplay. It's not at all heavy and it is easy to keep clean.
Definitely worth the price. A fantastic joystick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Beat 24 Feb 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is a very good piece of kit. I bought mine second hand and it works as well as you would wish. There are a huge number of negative reviews to be found on the web for this stick which I find difficult to reconcile. I can only assume that the very early models did have some design flaws which were soon overcome because the sticks that have been sold for several years now are top quality.

If you have bought online and only seen pictures of it the size comes as a bit of a surprise. It's 8 inches square and high. The plastic is high quality and high density giving it a very solid look and feel. The visible build quality is good and as soon as you feel it you can tell that it's well engineered inside. There's no excessive play in the neutral position and the counter force is nicely weighted - it gets progressively stiffer as you move away from neutral.

Installation on XP and Vista is super quick and if you already have a Logitech gaming keyboard the drivers will all be ready to go.

I have a Logitech G15 keyboard with USB ports but most devices can't draw enough current from the G15 USB ports so I was pleasantly surprised that the X3D Pro worked without complaint plugged in to the keyboard.

XP/Vista control panel joystick section takes you straight to the Logitech driver which has an animated graphic of the stick so that you can test each button, the thrust control, fire switches, look switch and the stick behaviour. This isn't the place to alter the sensitivity applied to the stick - that should be done from your game or simulator which is just the same for a mouse.

Sitting on top of the driver software is the Logitech Profiler which allows you to assign every control to anything that you fancy.

3.0 out of 5 stars When it says ok for Mac . . . . 11 May 2009
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Bought the joystick to work with my Macbook, but the CD with the unit tried to load, it wasn't possible. All of the enhancements are only for a PC. bit of a disappointment really.

Otherwise excellent service - rapid delivery, reasonable price.

Just a shame it can only do the absolute basic things on a Mac.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous joystick 22 Jan 2009
Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought the Logitech for a rather unorthodox use. I have great difficulty using a mouse due to musculoskeletal problems and have replaced my mouse with this joystick. It's performing very well in this capacity. I play world of warcraft and it's performed beyond expectation within the game. It's ergonomic, sturdy and very well priced. Definitely one very satisfied customer here.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good joystick, until... 22 May 2007
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I've been using this joystick on Flight Simulator X for about five months or so. And for that period of time, I couldn't fault it. The throttle response was very accurate - even to the slightest touch - and the same applied for the rudder and aileron controls. There are plenty of buttons on the base of the controller too, that you can customize using the provided software, which is also very useful.

So having got used to the controller, I decided to let my six year old nephew have a go with it for about an hour. He said that he had no problems with it and he also said that he hadn't broken it. Which made me think that something was wrong with it. So I tried it myself. And sure enough there was. Once I was ready to take off from a runway, I notice that when I pulled the joystick towards me to lift off from the runway, nothing happened. And then a few seconds later, it would mimic my last movements. The problem progressed when I eventually got in the air, and for no apparent reason, the plane I was flying would plummet back down to the ground - me having no say in what it was doing of course. This has gradually got worse to the point where it is pointless trying to use it.

I don't know myself what has caused the problem, but I'm currently looking on the Internet for similar problems and a possible solution. It's a shame really because it was a very good joystick, but perhaps there is an issue over the reliability/quality of the product.
