Totally Engaging.,

An associate recommended "The Extra Mile" to me and it is excellent.I have spent my career helping organisations to implement change and Macleod and Brady have managed to bring a fresh perspective to the crowded shelves of Organisational Development books. What's so good about this book is that the authors don't dress anything up, they just tell you what you need to think about and even provide you with a series of handy lists of what to do next as you work through the processes. The quotes from the senior executives and business leaders they interviewed whilst conducting their research are also compelling. Everyone has an opinion on what creates culture within an organisation, but very few people have done the legwork to explain how it can be changed on purpose. By focusing on the twin forces of Engagement and Alignment, the authors have made a significant contribution to the thinking and made it all so easy to understand and develop. I am recommending this book to all of my colleagues and associates involved in orchestrating change in their organisations. Invaluable!

Lining us up,
This review is from: The Extra Mile: How to Engage Your People to Win (Hardcover)
We are all looking for the next magic bullet in business. Simplicity is always going to be in the top quadrant, but so are some other issues. One of those is making sure that everyone in a business is facing in the right direction and pulling on the same rope. Translating that into business language for a moment, means engagement and alignment. Put another way, make sure that everyone in the business is engaged and then you have energy. Make sure that everyone in the business is aligned, meaning that they all understand what their job is, how to do it and why it is important. This excellent book is an explanation of those processes and how businesses need to harness them. Well written, with an engaging style. If I had a criticism the it would be that there are so many facts, sometimes they overwhelm the underlying message.

An excellent book based upon sound and practical real world "how it is". Chris Brady and David MacLeod cover the spectrum of taking your people with you in developing business momentum. Surely a 'must-have-guide' for any Manager, Team leader or Change Manager
