A gothic love story. When a brilliant young neuroscientists girlfriend tragically dies and crushes his dreams of their life together, he uses a serum he created to bring her back to life. Unfortunately the results are only temporary and he must descend into a world he never thought he would face because in order for her to live, many others must die. How far would you go for one more day with the one you love?

I rented this because it sounded like quite a good twisted tale. The story goes that handsome and talented medical student Nicholas (Steve Sandvoss) has been in heart with blonde `artist' Sophia (Nicole Vicius) forever. They are going away on a foursome weekend at some log cabin, and whilst there he finally plucks up the courage to tell her his true feelings - bless him.

He is also doing ground breaking studies at Med School on mice that involve chemicals that are produced when mammals orgasm, this he believes can lead to a longer and happier life, but not for the mice who all have death by Mau Mau experiences. Then he accidentally brings a dead mouse back from `the other side' and he thinks he might have cracked it. Meanwhile back at the cabin, she goes and gets herself killed - ruddy typical and he had brought some condoms just in case.

Well needless to say poor old Nicky is a bit down in the old dumps so while her body is in the morgue, conveniently back at the Med School, he takes her off to her place (kinky devil) where he has set up a rather swish laboratory, as you do, and then sets about doing a `Frankenstein', as they call it in med circles.

The following may be a plot spoiler, but hey ho, he goes from taking the Hippocratic Oath one minute to being a callous killer in order to keep his dead girlfriend topped up, that is a bit of a stretch. Also he hides out in her apartment, a place where he knows their friends all have keys to. Also how did he move the body and dispose of the dead ones, and the whole science guff around reanimation after brain death is never addressed. She has what can only be described as selective memory recall which Phew always means she can only remember the good things he has done - back of the net indeed.

I rented this as I love horror and had no real expectations. I was pleasantly surprised - the acting was good and the storyline was not awful with a good twist at the end. It is what it is - you will either enjoy it or not depending on your expectations. I can only say that I did enjoy this and have seen much, much worse.

The plot, a sort of Frankenstein type, dragged on and on to where it finally ends in a conclusion that I had figured out. Wow! I even endured the torture of just getting to the end of this ridiculous movie. I wish there was a "zero" among those five stars.

The Power of Love, Saving Life, Taking Life, and can the End Result Justify the Means 6 Mar. 2014
By Mark Horacek - Published on Amazon.com

This movie is a complex mixture of the power of real love and the lengths to which one might go to preserve it. When does the reduction in the quality of life argue against preserving it, and would your love for someone blur your judgment on letting them die with dignity? Is adding a little time to the end of life worth the cost? This movie will cause you to reflect on these and other questions.
