In my practice of teaching painting techniques to mature students there is a number of manuals which I constantly rely upon and, over the years, proved to be very helpful. This publication appears to be a really good addition to my list. In short, the feedback from the students is: compact, informative, self-explanatory, wide range of aspects covered, challenging but not overwhelming, and most importantly, truly inspiring. Although the book is for the water-based painting mediums, the advanced students (and self-educating art enthusiasts) may find the methods, explained and demonstrated here, quite useful for working in oil-based portraiture, as well.
