This is a wonderful book, each project is well described in pictures and text format. You don't need a lot of expensive tools to make these projects and the pictures will inspire you to take the projects described in new directions that suit your own personal tastes.
The is a brillient book for someone making a book for the first time, you will be surprised at how addictive bookbinding is and by the time you have made a few of the projects shown you will be well on your way in the interesting world of bookbinding.
A great boook for the first time binder, no prior knowledge of the subject is required.

I bought this book because I needed to make a special book for a college photo project in a hurry. It didnt't help much with undertaking a very specific task but has proved fun and useful in a wider context.
It has detailed instructions for making several basic types of books, as well as some more complex and decorative projects. In a couple of days since getting the book I've made a proper case bound book with sewn folios, an accordion book and a nice little one sheet book with an origami envelope.
Every stage of each set of instructions is fully and helpfully illustrated, but its most annoying feature is that every step is also spelled out in complete sentences padding the text out to no great purpose.
The content of some of the projects may also be a bit touchy feely for the average brit, but I have quickly found myself falling into the sentimental memory syndrome too - so be warned.

If, like me, you cannot wait to take delivery of your book on your favourite subject, then this will not disappoint. It is full of delightful and innovative projects - some advanced, others not so, but all clearly described with a clever, easy-to-follow instruction system. The author's own personal tragedy adds poignancy to many of the projects without being intrusive. She offers much interesting and useful advice to help get you going and her own work is so clever and inspiring that you just want to get started immediately. Highly recommended
