With an author like Kava this book had the potential to be an outstanding example of this genre. Instead I was left very disappointed with a slow, almost suspense less plot and a focus on the minutiae of the characters' lives. There were times when I found myself eagerly awaiting the next chapter, but these were few and far between.
For those who do not follow the series, the plethora of characters and unexplained backstory makes it difficult to develop a real connection to the characters.
The saving grace of the novel was the detail Kava provided, perfect for medical-thriller fans.
Overall one for fans of the series only. The plot focuses too much on character development rather than the exciting story line, leaving a new reader disappointed.
