By M. R. Greenhead TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
This is a great book for KS3 Science, covering the full syllabus of physics, chemistry and biology.

Pages are well laid out, with clear colourful diagrams and photos. It is designed more like a magazine than a stuffy text book and this makes the subject more interesting, especially with the up to date real world examples given (eg a question about David Blaine in the respiration section). I really like the book and think it is perfect for KS3.

The DVD is an EBook version of the text with the same layout. while this may seem good I personally think it adds little other than making kids feel like it's not really studying. On my slightly old PC the page turns are too slow so animations are turned off. I didn't really feel the DVD added to the learning experience, the book does the job.

Things to note:

The DVD will NOT work on a Mac. This is a bit annoying as my daughter uses one, but as it is really a freebie extra it is not the end of the world.

The book is the student version so there are some open ended questions, for example for class discussion.

Overall a very good book with a slightly gimmicky DVD add-on. Recommended.
