I used this book as main textbook on one of the units on my universtiy and I have to say that it is one of only few course books that I would recommend. It is well written in terms of structure and explaining the specific terms. It also contains many nice case studies that can help you see how the theory works in practice. Strong recommendation to all business-related students.

I felt that Johnson & Scholes could have written more cases, especially on mergers and acquisitions.

It is well written, well laid out and follows a methodology of examining business situations and creating cases from it. Each case is examined on its own merits and focuses on results. They are very specific and focused.

It has enough cases to get a practical view of what the text writes about but its hard to find other real life examples to practice on. You have to analyse the methods yourself and develop your own methodology of approaching a business problem. It is an excellent start.

This is one book I will not lend out.

This is a very good text book for students studying for professional accounting exams or post graduate strategy exams. The case studies are great, this particular edition may be a bit old but it is still very useful for back ground reading. The price was great too..
