5.0 out of 5 stars 70s lounge album made by electronica duo 8 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Quite simple really. You only have to look at the cover to understand where this album's coming from, i.e. the 70s (due to the depiction of the two stars of this scene, richard james and mike paradinas, playing popular 70s board game Downfall). It's sleazy jazzy loungey music made by the brains of these two geniuses. It often seems like there's more Mike P in this than RDJ as his sleazy Jake Slazenger style seems to come through a lot, but there are also very obvious aphex melodies in there too. Some people might not be able to take the sheer noisyness/craziness of some of the tunes, but i guarantee if you're a Mike P fan or Aphex fan or both you *will* surely enjoy this album. A classic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mike and Rich have it all 11 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
'Expert knob twidlers' consists of ten of the craziest, wackiest tracks ever heard by man. From the memorable beat of the opening track entitled 'Mr Frosty' to the last simple addictive beat of 'bu bu bu ba' 'expert knob twidlers' is a CD that you will enjoy and find quite humourous. Although I only gave this 4 out of 5, I really do enjoy it but I think you have to like weird music which is its only downfall.Created by just two guys and a load of electrical equipment, Mike and Rich have nailed down lovable, wacky music at its best. It has lots of beat from the first song to the last that you will remember and go over and over. Definitely worth a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mike and Rich are awesome 20 April 2008
By John Dandell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This album rocks so hard. Its just too much fun. I can listen to this music anytime. I didn't recognize any Richard D. James influence, because its really not that twisted, its more fun. I think only the percussion gave me a clue now that I think back. Its better than a standard aphex twin release. Way better.

5.0 out of 5 stars skilled messing about 23 Jun 2006
By Tony Meo - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
From the cover you can see that these two legends, i assume Mike is one to be working with "Aphex" Rich (who i know is one), are out to play games. Well from mischievous intent the tunes all form into wholes, sounding like what Henry Mancini might have become if he'd turned to electronica and insomnia. Can recommend Eggy Toast and The Sound of Beady Eyes on a overall very rushy album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funky!! 3 Aug 2011
By xerxes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Funky and fresh this item from genius Richard D. James and his partner Mike is a cool blend of Aphex's trippy style blended with a kind of funk reminiscent of the loung CD's of the 90's. That is it's only downfall however. It relies too heavily on funk, dossing Richard's well known experimental style, to the point where each track sounds the same. Still great at parties, and cool for listening out on the veranda with a batch of wine coolers at the ready. Would buy more from them if they ever released anything again.

1.0 out of 5 stars For ages 6 and under 28 Dec 2008
By Catfood03 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I thought this CD was terrible back when it came out and I still do today. Because it had both mu-Ziq and Aphex Twin as musical collaborators I purchased it without hearing a note, simply based on their stellar resumes. The songs are so beneath what either were doing solo at the time, hardly innovative, and quite embarrassing. I know both of the artists involved often inject humorous elements into their own work, but humor in the tracks here don't work because the music is so mundane. Not a total loss, at least the album cover and packaging was well done and more entertaining than the music contained within.
