Product Description

Product Description
For this second edition, this best-selling textbook has been revised, the coverage of two-sample tests extended, and new sections added introducing one-sample tests, linear regression, and the product-moment correlation coefficient.

From the Back Cover
The distinguishing feature of experimental psychology is not so much the nature of its theories as the methods used to test their validity. The first edition of Experimental Design and Statistics provided a clear and lucid introduction to these methods and the statistical techniques which support them. For this new edition the text has been revised, the coverage of two-sample tests has been extended, and new sections have been added introducing one-sample tests, linear regression and the product-moment correlation coefficient.
Problems associated with the applications of experimental design and how to use observations of behaviour in research are key questions for all introductory students of psychology. This new and expanded edition provides them with an invaluable text and source.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE bible for research!, 3 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Miller's book was recommended to us freshers of Research as a must-have. We were informed that Research Scientists over the years have referred back to it time and again throughout their careers. Indeed, it has proved such a gem of a book that it has gone back into print a number of times since it's original publication in 1974. Our lecturer was not far wrong - what other publications merely baffle us research undergraduates with, Miller's book defines research concepts in the proverbial 'layman's terms'. Time and again, after exhausting every available publication in finding the explanation that would relieve my confusion, I referred to my bible and there it was - my answer, in terms that even the dummies amongst us (i.e. me) would comprehend.

Miller's book is for all students - and graduates - whose course/work requires research of any nature. It discusses experimental design and statistics in clear, succinct terms and does not overwhelm the reader with unnecessary 'bumph'.

It is the bible for the researcher, and a book that I for one will refer to in years to come.
