I recall the rave reviews Experience Gloria Gaynor received upon its release back in 1975, and it wasn't long before four tracks from this album, Gloria's follow-up to the genre defining Never Can Say Goodbye, were sitting pretty at the number one spot on Billboard Disco Chart. Like the rest of Gloria's Polydor catelogue, the reissue of Experience has been long overdue, but this has now been put right by Big Break Records, thankfully. Storming Tom Moulton mixed tracks like Do It Yourself and the sensational How High The Moon, caused intense sweat on the dancefloors of the world back in the day, as did her brilliant remake of Walk On By. Crowned Queen of Disco by DJ's across America, Gloria excels on every track. And if you thought she was all about disco, think again! The lady turns down the pace on sizzling ballads such as What'll I Do and the haunting self-penned I'm Still Yours. The Prettiest Face is a sexy midtempo swayer, and the sophisticated Tell Me How enjoys a similar pace. In short, Experience is made up of superior dance and soul music that you'll want to hear again and again. Aretha listened to Gloria Gaynor music in the 70s and you'll understand why when you hear this masterpiece, which easily sits alongside Love Tracks as Gloria's career-best recordings. When you buy this crucial CD, as you must, you will hear why Gloria Gaynor earned her crown. Thank you Big Break Records for the fantastic booklet and exemplary sound quality, you could not have done better. Most of all, thanks to Gloria Gaynor, Tom Moulton and Meco 'Star Wars' Monardo for producing this eternal, life-enhancing music. Highly recommended - just in case that wasn't already obvious.
