5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good album, amazing reissue! 2 May 2010
Format:Audio CD
I knew very little about Gloria Gaynor's albums before the new BBR reissue of this and it's predecessor, Never Can Say Goodbye, last month. I cannot describe how happy I am with this. It's an even better album. Aside from the amazing Casanova Brown and Do It Yourself (some of the best soul/disco I have EVER heard) the softer jazzy soul tracks from side two of the LP, What'll I Do and Tell Me How are absolutely beautiful. If you are hung up on I Will Survive and I Am What I Am, think again. I have discovered that my preconceptions about Gloria were keeping me from what turns out to be some amazing music.

The packaging and mastering of this album is so good that it puts the major labels to shame. Get it today. You will not be disappointed. Five Stars at least!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well earned remaster! 19 Sep 2010

Wow, Big Break Records have given us yet another helping of Gloria Gaynor, once again remastered to perfection for her second LP with MGM records. I own this on vinyl and the pressing is so bad i have never been able to truly appreciate the tracks on this. Simply love the full length version of How High The Moon (Excellent Harold Wheeler arrangements) as well as the entire B-side of the album. Hoping BBR carry on the trend and release I've Got You, Glorious, Park Avenue Sound, Love Tracks and I Have A Right - all fantastic albums from the queen of disco. The booklets produced with these remasters are fantastic and worth the money alone. Further accomodating the original album once again are the 7" single versions and the B-sides. GOOD JOB BBR!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The First Lady Of Disco Delivers A Masterpiece 2 Sep 2010
Format:Audio CD
I recall the rave reviews Experience Gloria Gaynor received upon its release back in 1975, and it wasn't long before four tracks from this album, Gloria's follow-up to the genre defining Never Can Say Goodbye, were sitting pretty at the number one spot on Billboard Disco Chart. Like the rest of Gloria's Polydor catelogue, the reissue of Experience has been long overdue, but this has now been put right by Big Break Records, thankfully. Storming Tom Moulton mixed tracks like Do It Yourself and the sensational How High The Moon, caused intense sweat on the dancefloors of the world back in the day, as did her brilliant remake of Walk On By. Crowned Queen of Disco by DJ's across America, Gloria excels on every track. And if you thought she was all about disco, think again! The lady turns down the pace on sizzling ballads such as What'll I Do and the haunting self-penned I'm Still Yours. The Prettiest Face is a sexy midtempo swayer, and the sophisticated Tell Me How enjoys a similar pace. In short, Experience is made up of superior dance and soul music that you'll want to hear again and again. Aretha listened to Gloria Gaynor music in the 70s and you'll understand why when you hear this masterpiece, which easily sits alongside Love Tracks as Gloria's career-best recordings. When you buy this crucial CD, as you must, you will hear why Gloria Gaynor earned her crown. Thank you Big Break Records for the fantastic booklet and exemplary sound quality, you could not have done better. Most of all, thanks to Gloria Gaynor, Tom Moulton and Meco 'Star Wars' Monardo for producing this eternal, life-enhancing music. Highly recommended - just in case that wasn't already obvious.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic beautifully remastered 13 April 2011

What can be said about Gloria Gaynor. She is a woman with an amazingly powerful voice and a range that soars with emotive abilities for days. Add the disco/r@b music and you get a singer that rose the music to its highest level of art. This was Gloria's second release following the hugely succesful NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE. Often singers hit the sophomore slum with their second release but not Gloria. In some ways this album followed the formula of the first but in other ways it was far adavanced. I loved the first but for me this one EXPERIENCE GLORIA GAYNOR is far superior. As with the first, side one of the album was 19 minutes of three supreme disco songs put together uninterrupted for an amazing dance/musical experience. Here we start with CASANOVA BROWN which is a funky r@b disco track followed by the anthemic DO IT YOURSELF. Ending the trio up is one of the albums highlights - a disco version of HOW HIGH THE MOON. Magic is made here. The orchestration is beautiful and Gloria brings new life to a classic. Here we see just how gifted a singer she truly is. And again, the disco beat reigns supreme. Then side two of the album contained individual tracks as with the first album. Difference with EXPERIENCE is that the tracks are more of the ballad form. They are all amazing and showcase Gloria as a true r@b/soul diva. THE PRETTIEST FACE I EVER SAW, TELL ME HOW and I'M STILL YOURS are higlights. And then after all this superb music we get Gloria's amazing disco version of another classic WALK ON BY. Wow.

This expanded cd is a glorious presentation of the album given to us by BBR. The remastering provides audio quality that will leave you breathless. And extensive liner notes are also provided. Then we get the huge gift of 5 bonus tracks from single versions of the dance tracks to the final track a beautiful b-side track MY MAN'S GONE. It is superb and an awesome way to end this beautiful expanded edition of EXPERIENCE GLORIA GAYNOR. This is a gifted singer and this is a superb album. Thanks to BBR it becomes a tour de force presentation of disco/r@b/soul at its best. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC DISCO LP NOW ON CD IS WORTH OWNING! 5 July 2010
By Xavier Limtuaco - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I pre-ordered this cd excitedly (together with Gloria's "Never Can Say Goodbye") last March 2010 when I first heard that it was finally being released on cd after 35 years (36 years for "Never Can Say Goodbye" which was released in 1974). But for some reason, after many delays in shipping due to non-availability of the items at Amazon and a cancelled order with the first 3rd party seller and re-ordering from another 3rd party seller, I was finally able to get this coveted cd only after 3 long months on June 28, 2010 (together with the other one). The long wait that was definitely worth it!

Like the first cd of Gloria "Never Can Say Goodbye," this cd was lovingly put together in a beautiful jewel case (not the usual or standard type), with liner notes, and then superb sound due to remastering of the originals. Similar to the concept of her first LP, this follow-up also has 3 songs joined together one after the other (there were 3 songs on side 1 of the LP version): "Casanova Brown," which moves into "If You Want It (Do It Yourself)" and then into "How High The Moon." Aside from the 3 killer dance tracks, my favorite track is the beautiful ballad "Tell Me How" which was on side 2 of the original LP. Love grooving to this sexy song! Bonus tracks are the single versions of the 3 extended dance songs which are worth listening to and give added value to the cd.

All in all, a must own! Quite steeply priced but worth every cent.
