Product Description

American documentary with Ben Stein examining the plight, and arguing the case for, educators and scientists castigated for their belief in 'Intelligent Design'.

Product Description

This is quite simply the best documentary to arrive in a long time. It was screened in over 1,000 US cinemas with the twelfth biggest box office take for a documentary. Starring former presidential speech writer, game-show host and movie star Ben Stein, the programme exposes the shameful practice of silencing and discriminating against anyone who challenges Darwinian Evolution in Universities and the media. It goes on to connect Darwinism with Nazism, totalitarian fascism and abortion. It thoroughly uncovers the Atheist agenda within the circles of the scientific elite. It is a must see, if just for the interview with British Atheist Richard Dawkins who reveals that intelligent design is possible as long as it is Aliens. We highly recommend that you watch this programme and share it with as many people as possible.

Great movie!!! Few things out there challenge the mainstream, well protected theory of evolution. This one is great based on science not religious notions!

1.0 out of 5 stars Factually, Scientifically and Ethically Wrong 24 Jan 2010
By jcmacc VINE VOICE
Expelled is a sub-Michael Moore "investigation" into the idea that North American academia is a vast conspiracy to silence a new scientific field called ID or intelligent design. The documentary alledges that various people have been victimised and lost their jobs because they dared to question orthodox views on evolution and followed the ID "hypothesis".

Let's be clear. ID is an attempt by US creationists to get round legal blocks to prevent religion being taught in science classes. Their "designer" is God. There is no science underpinning ID, only an attempt to rebrand creationism to trick legal rules.

The film is factually incorrect at the outset. The alledged "victims" did not lose jobs, either they continued to work or never had a job to lose in the first place. "Expelled Exposed", a website by the National Centre for Science Education has all the background on why the controversy in the film is totally manufactured and false.

Perhaps the worst thing in Expelled, certainly why it got a number of merciless critical maulings in the US, is a deliberate and disgusting attempt to link Darwin, evolution and scientists working today with Nazis and the Holocaust. This approach to an alledgedly scientific debate is beneath contempt.

Expelled largely failed in the US. It's only audience was hard-core fundamentalists with such myopia that they see all science as anti-religious thus are predisposed to agree with anything that attacks science, no matter how grubby the attack may be. Let's hope that the similar lunatic fringe in the UK is even smaller than it is in the US.

When you see a large number of reviews with 5 stars and 1 star (and nothing in the middle) you know that you have found something truly controversial. Whatever you feel about Evolution you should probably watch this film - if for no other reason - just for balance. I have read some howling complaints about this movie but I am afraid that as somebody with a Ph.D. who has worked in academia that they seem totally unjustified to me. The situation is precisely as shown and I have had personal first-hand experience of it. Moreover, it has been this way for at least 20 years. What I like about the movie more than anything else is that people speak for themselves. How they got Richard Dawkins to openly admit to stuff (everyone has known about for decades) is astounding. Some clips I had to play 2-3 times just to take it in.
I should mention that if you are a closed minded atheist you should probably not watch this movie as you are bound to be hugely offended. This is only for people who are genuinely open minded or who honestly want to understand the other side of the argument.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent watch 24 Sep 2013

Really good watch. A real eye opener to the discrimination to anyone who questions the idea of an intelligent mind behind the creation of the universe. Can the universe really come from nothing?

1.0 out of 5 stars As the titles says "No Inteligence allowed" 24 Jan 2010
I recommend this to any atheist who wants some light comedy where you want to scream at the screen. This film does not only not offer any scientific facts at all, it does not offer any arguments that common reason cannot dispute. Bill Stein shows his ignorance in this documentary as he interviews prominent people on either side but does not let either side fully discuss any issue. He cuts off the people he interviews and makes nonsensical reasoning on issues that I have to assume he does not understand. More christian propaganda.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Intelligence 30 April 2009
Save your money and watch it for free on Google Video

One of the most offensive films you can watch. It splices images of Nazi's, Stalin and the Berlin wall whilst linking it to 'Darwinism'. The ID movement is represented as a 'persecuted' group.

The participants on the side of evolution were duped into taking part, and the deceit is continuous over the 1hr 37m.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dishonest Tripe 20 Jan 2009
This has to be one of the most dishonest films ever made. They even had to trick Richard Dawkins and others into doing interviews by lying about the nature and even the name of the film!
The film itself is full of the usual creationist hogwash, irreducible complexity of the bacterial flagellum type rubbish that has been disproven countless times. They even don't seem to be able to comprehend that evolution has nothing to do with abiogenesis and harp on about how it can't explain the origins of life, a bit like saying the theory gravity can't be true because it can't explain the behavior of electrons.
I would suggest anyone thinking of paying out hard earned cash on this visits the expelledexposed website first, if only to get the low down on the dirty tricks and quote mining used in the film.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not a docu, it's propaganda! 5 Oct 2011
This is one of the most fake, unreliable, uncomplete and unbalanced docu's i've ever seen. How can you call this a docu anyway?? This Movie is pure propaganda! You can clearly tell by how the docu was made...
They put these so-called scientist supporting creationisme and intelligent design completly into the spotlight. Victimized by some conspiracy of a 'obscure darwinian organisation', but fail to talk bout the (real) reason why they got expelled. They have clearly the upperhand in this 'documentary'. And then you have real scientist shown by very short and select statements, shown as somewhat - in a dark place - as 'absurd, godforsaken men'.
This docu also doesn't even talk about the core of evolution or creationisme, or any way to define both. Nor realy about these scientist that got fired from their faculty or university. They are allowed to talk about their believes with no need of factual back-up. Had the director given the same amount of time and attention to the evolutionary scientist... well, we wouldn't have this 'duco' then...
Also their attempt to link the evolutionary science to Hitler and nazi-ism and somehow suggesting science is and leads to evil, is really lame. As if religion never caused tentions, wars and yes, even holocausts. Suggesting living without religion is an empty, evil life. That living without it makes you a radical athiest. Like there's no such thing as relgious fundamentalism. Although (the) burdens of religion are never mentioned here, living without it can be a relieve and a mind opener, and is in my opinion also worht of a debate. Still, the director didn't find it necessary to show both sides of the story.
This movie is full of opinion and propaganda and has a huge lack of data.
