I first learned of this band when researching for SXSW. Catching them live at the festival took it to a higher level and I knew they'd be someone to keep an eye and ear out for. The lead singer plays live without a guitar pick and I would've never guessed it from listening to them. Well I finally got around to buying this CD and am wondering why I didn't earlier. The album is full of great guitar lines, changes in time signature, and great choruses to sing along with. The album goes a little "out there" at times, but that's what makes it original and such a joy to hear. My favorites so far (haven't listened enough to fully decide) include Expanding Away, Eyes the Same, Snow Frog vs Motor Cobra (after the intro), and Crystalline.
This band clearly poured their heart into making this music and you can feel it from the rawness and edge in the guitar straight to the emotion filled vocals. They're having a blast playing and you'll feel their energy pouring from it.
