Product Description

When 50 kilos of heroin is stolen from the property vaults of a top security prison in Detroit, the evidence points to the officers in charge. But no one will admit anything as the heroin is worth $5m to them. Gangster Latrell Walker (DMX) is determined to find the thieves as he was due to get some big money out of the deal. But he has to deal with cop Orin Boyd (Steven Seagal), who is also on the trail of the thieves. The two decide to join forces and try and find those responsible for this conspiracy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Welcome back, Mister Seagal! 1 May 2002
Format:VHS Tape
I saw this movie today and this is probably Steven Seagal's best film since Under Siege 2. It's got all the usual good cop/bad cop cliches, but produced by Joel Silver, this is an action-packed rollercoaster ride of a thriller, with Seagal kicking, punching and shooting a**. I like the beginning bit when Seagal exterminates the assassins who are out to kill the vice-pres and there are some humorous sequences, such as his anger management classes. The main flaws are that Tom Arnold's character is a bit of a waste, Jill Hennessy doesn't do much except shout orders and the villains are pretty bland. Apart from that, this is an absolute stunt-fest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy pants 19 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Oh my word! What a surprise! I normally can't abide Steven Seagal but this is SUCH a good film! It's complete tat of course but it's all carried off with such verve and aplomb it gets away with it completely. As with Under Siege (his last decent film) Seagal is backed by a good supporting cast, including Tom Arnold and Anthony Anderson (who make for a very, VERY funny ending) and Bill Duke (Predator) makes a welcome appearance as a chief of police who gets to get out of the office at the climax of the film and do more than just bellow out our hero. To be honest, the stunts aren't anything very special and Seagal is pretty much past it, but seems content to lurch around and gurn at the camera a lot, which actually works pretty well. I saw the film at the cinema, against my wishes and saw it again at a friend's house and it actually does bear up to repleat viewings. The only thing that got on my nerves is that at one point the writers blatantly stole a line from the Usual Suspects - lads if you can't come up with good dialogue yourself don't steal it so blatantly: it ain't big and it ain't clever. If you are looking for some enjoyable rubbish then you really can't go far wrong with this. Set against most of Steven Seagal's other output this is a masterpiece and it holds it's own pretty well a lot of other action films too. I liked it a lot.

Steven Segal at his best in this action packed movie.
This movie features car stunts/shunts and even a cool scene with a Ducati motorcycle.
A 'must have' film for your collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Senseless title for a senseless movie 12 April 2011
By Inspector Gadget VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
Despite Fire Down Below being a No. 1 hit in America, it went straight to video here in the UK and killed Seagal's career for four years. But then veteran action producer Joel Silver thrust Steve back in the limelight, put him on the Slimfast diet gave him slightly better material to work with. After all, an actor can only do as good as the script.

From a novel of the same name by John Westerman (but bearing minimal resemblance to it) the plot centers on Orin Boyd, a cop busted down to patrolman after a rough encounter with the Vice-President. Once on the streets Boyd's suspicious nose can't keep him out of trouble with undercover cops who are trying to bust local Drug Boss Latrell Walker...or so it seems.

There are many attempts at irony throughout the movie and surprisingly enough most of them work. Boyd is forced to attend rage control classes in which he meets eccentric TV host Henry Wayne (Tom Arnold) who becomes his wannabe partner. But sadly enough the classes don't work as Boyd continues to uses violence first, ask questions later. And there is a public service announcement too; Seagal survives a car wreck by airbag. A later car crash victim doesn't have one and dies.

Dozens of cop movie cliches staple the flimsy script together. And the bad guys are obvious from the moment they appear on screen. Bartkowiak's direction is better than in his debut Romeo Must Die, and adds a heavy dose of frenetic rush to such a fast-paced film. However the set-up and execution of the story is so dull you'll forget about it half an hour after the credits roll.

Seagal has learned a little, just a little, more in the acting area but still doesn't know how to express himself much. There's too much frowning and not enough other emotions from Boyd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seagul still has what it takes 27 Aug 2001
Format:DVD
Seagul in this film plays a tough cop where he still demonstrates that he has got what it takes to shift some body about. This action packed film includes a different approach to what seagul has done so far since he displays a funny side to his personality and yet keeping the film very real and exciting

5.0 out of 5 stars The best action film this year!!! 28 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:DVD
This film is "Bad Boys" meets "Die Hard". Awesome visual effects (Especially when the guy gets squashed against a parked car whilst hanging off the back of a truck - look out for his facial expression!). It's got everything - hand to hand combat, guns, cars, explosions - you name it - this films got it! Steven Seagal still has the fluid moves to carry this role off, although a bit aged! DMX is very strong as the "Baddie come Goodie". Michael Jai White - has muscles and there is a host of familiar faces wandering around in this, probably the best action film of the year so far. Well worth a look.
