An absolute tour-de-force from Brit black metallers The Meads Of Asphodel.
Along with The Mars Volta's 'Comitorium' opus, this is my album of the year. It's so refreshing to discover music that doesn't pander to or patronise the listener. This album challenges you and then takes you to places you've never been before. It's the spiritual brother to Sigh's 'Imaginary Sonicscape' album, and is just as adventurous (Mirai, of said Japanese band, lends a helping hand on track 3 of this album).
Want to hear an album where the finest Black Metal known to man indulges in a heavy-petting session with Hawkwind's twisted offspring from hell, all whilst strutting their funky stuff on the dancefloor of a middle eastern nightclub? Step right up and join the party, mon amis.
A stunning achievement (and make sure you get hold of the copy album with the superb bonus track 'Book Of Dreams').
