This is a wonderful comedy with Penelope Keith and Geoffrey Palmer - both superb in good roles in this slice of 1980s office and family life. I think it is a comedy with a somewhat serious heart insofar as it deals with the compromises and issues women face in deciding career versus family - or perhaps career, family and then career again. A lovely perspective on a thorny issue even today.
Great 1980s fashions on show of course, but really the leads make this comedy with their great delivery of some sharp lines! The supporting cast is full of a few familiar faces of the TV era and all in all this is great fun very relaxed and a real reminder that there may be hundreds more channels now, but this still knocks the spots off most current programmes!
Sit back and enjoy this quirky comedy with the irreplaceable Penelope Keith - a really wonderful character actress.
Now, when I've finished this... why can't I buy the subsequent 2 series which star Peter Bowles too? A great shame!
