Product Description

Breakbeat garage's flashy young Turks come strapped for action on their debut album Execute. Neutrino's grand guignol lyrics--skunk-fuelled paranoia and glock-cocked gun fantasies--sit well with the abstract mechanics of Oxide's music which meshes drop-step drum patterns and flesh-bruising bass rhythms into syncopated violence. But while the music brims over with boundless energy, Neutrino's duotone MC style tends to grate after just a few tracks. Relief comes in the form of the So Solid Crew, who provide so-solid support on the single "No Good 4 Me", which updates the Prodigy's "No Good" with solid state sonics. "Up Middle Finger" is Neutrino's boastful answer to all the underground nay-sayers who nixed them following the success of "Bound 4 Da Reload", the Casualty tune that caps this record. Later, So-Solid's Megaman lets go of his flighty flow over the stressed-funk of "Remy On the Floor". The "Devil's Nightmare" is an orchestrated exorcism for the dancefloor possessed. Oxide holds his own solo on "Foot 2 The Floor", which buoys up a click-clack four four rhythm with haunted house pianola melodies and ectoplasmic bass. "Back 2 Da Floor" (no relation) is an adrenaline rush of hyper-tensile hi-hats and warring subsonic bass. For such a young group, Execute is a promising start, but they'll need to stock up with fresh ammo if they are to break out of the generic garage battlefield. --Chris Campion

BBC Review

On one side of the UK Garage coin there is the classically trained MJ Cole trading in sweet vocals, pianos and pizzicato strings, on the flip there is Oxide and Neutrino, the dynamic duo spawned from the massive, London based So Solid crew. For those above the underground these guys blasted in to the mainstream last year with the release of the chart topping, Casualty sampling 'Bound 4 Da Reload' - a tune which pricked up the ears and raised the eyebrows of many in equal measure.

However, this subsequent release is proof positive that Oxide and Neutrino are no one trick pony; in fact, Execute is perhaps the definitive UK garage album so far. Sure, there have been great singles but nothing to date has nailed the sound and the attitude in one. Reminiscent of punk and the early days of jungle, this is a deep and dangerous collection with a sense of humour made for the people and by the people that love it. Just goes to show, you don't need much more than drums, bass, a mic and nuff love. Watch their space. --Christian Hopwood

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Tracks 11 Nov 2001
Format:Audio CD
I thought that execute was a really good album one of my best albums. Some of the songs on it i hadn't heard them before but after listening to them i thought they were brilliant. I really reccomend this album to anyone who likes lisening to songs with lyrics that are fast and a fast beat. If you like So Solid Crew they are part of them they both have in some tracks the same kind of music but the lyrics are brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars top notch 6 April 2006
Format:Audio CD
this is a phat album from start to finish. The drum n bass/garage beats are fantastic and neutrinos gritty rhymes are pretty good. 'no good for me', 'foot 2 da floor' and 'back to the floor' are tasty treats and there isn't a single tune on the album i can put down. Neutrino isn't the most amazing mc but his work on this album is much better than his lyrics on his second album 2 stepz ahead. But despite saying this i must admit he does make cathchy rhymes that will stay in your head all day. I reckon this is one of the best albums the uk has to offer and i recomend it to anyone who likes good music.

5.0 out of 5 stars And to think I thought I'd hate it! 14 Jan 2002
Format:Audio CD
Before someone bought this album for me, I despised garage. I hated the repetiveness and rapping. I almost considered not listening to this album at all, but when I did, I was amazed.
This is nothing like the horrible novelty value of DJ Luck & MC Neat which just annoys me, neither is it just rapping with a dodgy bass noise behind it. The music is fantastic, and the rapping is great too (I'm not a fan of rapping though).
I hope that this album will change the face of garage and turn it into a very respected form of music.
So, even if you're not sure, you should buy this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars ACE 12 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The So Solid Crew's DJ Oxide & MC Neutrino have made one of the darkest garage albumz ever featuring their singles Bound 4 Da Reload, a garage mix of the Casualty theme tune with Neutrino's unique MCing style, No Good 4 Me, sampling the prodigy tune featuring MC Megaman, MC Romeo and his sister Lisa Maffia of the So Solid Crew, Up Middle Finger, Neutrino's answer to all those who dissed Bound 4 Da Reload and didn't play it at the Notting Hill Carnival in 2000 and Devil's Nightmare, from the Tomb Raider soundtrack with it's dark beat's and bassline's. Also on the album is Don't Give A Damn, A bass driven tune with MC Harvey (So Solid Crew) replacing Neutrino and Fighting Machine, another great track with it's army style beat's featuring Kaish of the So Solid Crew also Remy On Da Floor, featuring Megaman's own unique MCing style with oxide's trademark dark beat's and bassline's. MC Asher D of the So Solid Crew features on the last track of the first CD. The actor, MC and producer replaces Neutrino's fine MCing. Now on to the Bonus Live Mix CD. A great mix with Oxide on the decks and Neutrino, Megaman and MC Face also of the So Solid Crew on the mic. This is a dark mix of the album with Only Wanna Know U Cos Ure Famous,Don't Give A Damn, Setting Da Pace, Nuff Of Dem Watch Me, Remy On Da Floor, Foot 2 Da Floor, Up Middle Finger and Back 2 Da Floor. Also in the mix is an Oxide Dubplate, the Oh No Remix off So Solid Crew's Album They Don't Know, Lifestyle off So Solid Crew's Mix Compilation F**k It and an Oxide remix of Ol' Dirty B*****d's Got Your Money.

5.0 out of 5 stars An unique underground garage album 29 May 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
this album is basically an update of last years 'The Solid Sound of the Underground'. However, new tracks such as 'Only wanna Know u Cos ure Fmaous' are less typical garage and more prodigy-style special effects dance music. The MC's are very heavy and it does get a bit boring listening to unhearable rambling, but it does little to let down the excellence of this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Garage is for girls? Then this can't be garage! 12 Jun 2001

Format:Audio CD
Brilliant stuff; there is the odd poor song but there's enough amazing ones for this to be worth buying. It's certainly a break from stereotypical, cheesy garage; it's a lot darker and, well...better...along with So Solid Crew, these are the best garage band around!

at last they have released an album containg the very best music in underground garage. The album contains all of their releases (bound 4 da reload, no good 4 me, up middle finger) and many other tunes. An absolute must buy if you are a big fan.
