Product Description

An alternative to formula exists! When breastfeeding doesn’t work out, situations such as a premature or an ill baby delay breastfeeding, or a you simply choose not to breastfeed, exclusively pumping breast milk—using a breast pump to initiate and maintain lactation—is a viable option and can be done on a long-term basis. Exclusively Pumping Breast Milk offers moms the knowledge, advice, and support necessary to initiate and maintain their milk supply with a breast pump. This second edition of the first—and most comprehensive—book about exclusively pumping offers well-researched information, and plenty of tips and tricks, to help you on your journey. In addition to the basics of exclusively pumping, the second edition includes information on lactation and breast milk composition, increasing and decreasing supply, overcoming common challenges, pumps and accessories, storing expressed milk, weaning, and also a chapter specifically for mothers with babies in the NICU. Exclusively pumping breast milk is possible and this book will provide the accurate information and support necessary for you to provide your baby with “expressed love”.

Fantastic resource. Gave me a great understanding of the process of lactation, the hormones, but also the emotional side behind being an exclusively pumping mum. Must read if you are looking to increase your supply or considering this as an option.

5.0 out of 5 stars Proud to have pumped! 3 April 2014
Format:Paperback
This book was a life-saver; my daughter was born with a cleft palate and I felt totally alone and devastated when I realised I would not be able to breastfeed. Luckily I found the book just as I was starting to think it would be impossible to continue pumping. I remember that day so well, reading the book gave me hope and I felt so happy. Following all Stephanie's advice I managed to provide 18 months of breastmilk and was also able to donate huge ammounts to my local milk bank, my daughter was an incredibly healthy and robust little thing and got through her subsequent op no trouble. I feel indebted to Stephanie Casemore for taking the time and trouble to create such an invaluable resource.

As a mum who found herself EP'ing her second son and finding very little support and information with medical staff or breastfeeding supporters, I wish I had the chance of reading this then. I love how sympathetic and encouraging the author is, understanding the mixed emotions of women who find themselves on this journey.

The information on the physiolgy of milk production is very detailed but also really clearly written.

I think this is definitely a book that should be in the library of breastfeeding supporters, medical professionals and all those who work with new mums so they are informed and able to pass on useful information. As well of course, for all those mums who are considering or find themselves on the EP'ing journey.

A very well researched and written book.
