3.0 out of 5 stars Not for everyone.... 20 Dec 2010
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Okay so this is not a game for everyone and if you are keen on strategy games you need some patience as it doesnt start to get interesting and difficult until mission/week four or five which means sticking with it for a day or two! But I really enjoy it! You have to balance the books, manage you men, allocate your investigators, control & reduce crime.

HOWEVER! The game badly needs a patch! Firstly the game does not auto save so you need to manually save your progress every few hours in order to mitigate the CONSTANT crashes!!! Argh! There are various other bugs too.

This game could be so good (though not for everyone) but really, it fails to deliver.

3.0 out of 5 stars ROBBERY HAS BEEN REPORTED! 8 April 2011
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
If I was to design a game aiming to give a police management experience, the bare bones of that game might look something like Police Simulator. Unfortunately, that is all this game seems to be - bare bones.

I am no game designer, but a little more in the way of character, genuine points of interest, maybe some actual named offenders to hunt down and build cases against, etc, would go a long way to improving the experience.
As it is, it seems that crime and crimials are not the antagonist in the game, but the game itself.
A plus point I think would be the soundtrack however, which works well.
Graphics for me are by the by - as I seemed to spend most of my time looking at the strategic map. There didn't seem any point looking at the main map as there wasn't anything interesting going on in the least.
All my officers look the same, and I must mention they all have very similar names like Kyle, Kian etc, and many have the same surnames - making it a challenge in itself to remember who on earth is who and what on earth you've asked them to do!
I bought Police Simulator after reading some very negative reviews, because I liked the idea of the concept, and at less than 5 to buy at the time it seemed like a good risk. On the whole I am glad I bought it, I just wish it was a better game.

If you buy this game, I advise that the best environment to play it is while watching something else on the TV. It's a nice idea, executed way below the level that professional games designers should feel happy with themselves for!
