Eric J Hunter is Emeritus Professor of Information Management, Liverpool John Moores University, UK. He has written widely on the subjects of librarianship and information handling, computing and education. His numerous monographic publications include a number of well-known student and practitioner texts that have been used throughout the world and his work has been translated into several languages. His latest book is a third edition of 'Classification made simple : an introduction to knowledge organisation and information retrieval' (2009). He has contributed to various conference proceedings, periodicals and other major publications, for example 'Automating the library process', in 'The Cambridge history of libraries in Britain and Ireland' (2006). There is one novel: 'The bullet and the ring'(2008).
