Book Description

July 2001
Gina had fallen for Matt Hooley when they were both teenage rebels. Together, they were going to save the world - until their mothers put a stop to it, and made sure they never saw each other again. Now, fourteen years later, Gina still regards Matt as 'The One'. No one else has ever come close to measuring up. All of her other boyfriends have eventually stumbled at some hurdle or other, cursing 'Saint Matt' as they fell. Gina's always had a daydream that one day Matt would come back and carry her off on his obligatory white charger. But never once in her fantasies did he ever arrive complete with an ex-wife and three kids! Worse, her teenage rebel has become thoroughly respectable. Well groomed, wealthy, middle class - he could even pass for an accountant! How can her Mr Right have gone so wrong...?

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing! 24 Aug 2001
Format:Paperback
I was eagerly awaiting Zoe's new book. I have enjoyed her previous books with Hot Property being my favourite. How disappointed I was. Although Gina was an interesting girl, the story was really quite hard work. Considering Matt was the romantic hero of the hour, he was totally boring. Give me Sam any day! If you are new to Zoe Barnes' work, please don't read this first, as you will be put off and miss some wonderful stories and great characters. I wait in anticipation for the new book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its OK - but not what we are used to... 30 July 2001
Format:Paperback
Gina Mason is a cook and a damn good ethical cook at that. She has a business with her friend? Phoebe Butt doing catering for dinner parties etc. Gina also has a man she has never got over - Matt Hooley. This love that was meant to be was destroyed by Matt and Gina's Conniving mothers (this could be a brilliant story on its own!!). The plot involves accountants, farmers, animals and tv shows, vikings and affairs, non affairs and would be affairs... I didnt warm to Gina at all or Matt, but i did like Phoebe and Adam. Merril in my opinion gives up too easily, which seems strange compared to how she usually persuades the girls to do most things that she wants! I must confess some disapointment in this story, I loved Bumps and Hot Property, but the characters were so believable. I will reccomend this book to Zoe Barnes' most ardent fans, but if you are new to her work try all her other work first. I will keep my fingers crossed the next novel is better...

4.0 out of 5 stars Ex Appeal 20 Aug 2002
By kelly
Format:Paperback
Having not read any of Zoe Barnes' books before I found this one a excellent. The content is something that we all think about i.e living a free life, meeting up again some years later with your first and true love, they have changed completely but you haven't. I have now started the married book of hers which tends to be a litte slower but its ok so far EX-APPEAL IS A DEFINATE MUST!!!
