I bought this battery for my Sony NEX-5 camera. The battery is different to the provided picture as the front face is just black no arrow or w logo. On the back of the battery it says 7.2v and 1080 mAh. The battery came charged at 77% , however the instructions said I need to fully charge the battery so I did, I used the charger provided with my sony camera.
I was pleased to see that the battery is fully compatible with my new firmware which is .03, and I can see the remaining battery life on screen (percentage % and battery indicator).
To test the performance of this battery, I started taking one minute full HD videos. The average of this battery is a 35 sec clip for every 1% power, while the original battery can shoot 55sec.
So, I guess this battery dies 1.5 times faster than the original which is not bad considering that the price is 4 times less and hence my 5 stars.
I think this is a good backup battery.

This definitely has less capacity than the official Sony Battery and also loses more of it's charge overnight (when left in the device). It is cheap though and lasts maybe a day to half a day of plenty o' non-flash shooting (a55 with image stabilisation on).

I bought this battery on the basis of Jem's review and price. Very fast delivery and well packaged. The battery I received was branded 'bluemax' and came in a retail blister pack. It charges and functions as the original Sony battery does using the Sony charger and camera however it is 850mAh capacity compared to the original 1080mAh i.e. of lower capacity. The camera correctly 'recognises' the battery and its %age state of charge- i.e. fully charged = 100%. I have no idea as to longterm longevity but as a low cost back-up it seems very good value and the seller appears reliable. I would recommend to my friends and buy again myself.

Good value battery
So far this replacement battery has performed well. Which is a good thing because the A35 eats batteries and I'm probably going to have to buy more.

Sony replacement battery.
I have only had it a short time but it appears to work perfectly showing the amount of charge as per the original on the camera display. Would recommend.

Good Back-up battery
Bought this as a back-up. It charged up well and quickly. Looks almost identical to original Sony battery. If it lasts as long in use it will be an excellent unit at a good price.

This battery is cheap because this is a cheap battery. Please note that it does not compare in any way to the Sony original other than it fits the same size as the Sony original. Read more
