5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 28 Oct 2009
By R. Gent
This is a solid piece of equipment. It is really well made, easily assembles and does exactly what it says it does. The C-clamp (not shown on the photo) is likewise very good. There are 3 horizontal 'joints' (only 2 shown on photo) as well as the tilting one. Very good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Neat Product 11 Oct 2010
I bought one of these to use in my music studio. I have a 49-key Oxygen keyboard that used to stand end up on the floor and get in the way all the time. So, I bought one of these and attached the music keyboard to the laptop shelf. The music keyboard is, obviously, much wider than the shelf, so I used the supplied velcro pads which are easily strong enough for my "light" touch. If you have a heavy touch, you might need to attach it more solidly. I removed the integrated keyboard shelf that comes with the product as it does nothing for me. Now, when I need to use the music keyboard, I just pull it towards me and it sits just to the left and slightly above my computer keyboard allowing me to use both. When I am done, I just push the music keyboard out of the way giving me space to work with the computer. Really neat.

I am not sure why 18% of people who viewed this item chose the Lindy version. I am pretty sure they are identical in design.

When I received this item the first thing that I was impressed with was the overall weight of the thing!
It's VERY heavy and sturdy so there's no worries about it managing the weight of a laptop. The reason I purchased this is my desk is pretty small. Sometimes I'm on my laptop and sometimes I'm writing on A4 paper. The laptop takes up so much of the desk, that the A4 paper doesn't fit completely on the desk. So I need the laptop out of the way when I'm writing, but also close by in case I need to Google something!
I think my Support Arm may need a little oil or something as the joints are really stiff! Also, the height of the tray where the laptop sits IS adjustable, but I think it would be tricky to do this whilst the laptop is sat on it's tray.
Maybe that's why all the other brands I've seen are so much more expensive (£100 plus)- perhaps they are more easily adjustable.
All in all, I would recommend this product if you're happy to have your laptop higher up on a desk or out the way, but not if you want to move the laptop up and down and left to right (like the lights that dentists have!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Ex Pro Notebook/Laptop Support Arm 13 April 2011
The item arrived as described. All parts and instructions where included in the box including the hex key needed for assembly. The parts are all well machined and fit together superbly. Once installed the swing joints where stiff but upon adjustment with the hex key all the movement axis where soon smoothly working. The kit includes four rubber pads and two velcro style strips. The four pads worked well but could have been either bigger or more provided to make the surface more slip resistant. I did not apply the velcro as I hate sticking things to my laptop.

Once assembled and sited, I found that the arm was an excellent platform for a very large laptop (Dell XPS Studio 17" with longlife battery). The screen was at an ideal height for health and safety and the raised deck meant that I could use an external mouse and keyboard easily. The support arm did exactly what was hoped and turned my laptop into a reasonably configured 'desktop' style machine.
The deck was stable and did not move unless direct action to move it was taken.

For the price I would highly recomment this for either a Screen or laptop. The image indicates a tilted deck but it may also be used with no tilt (flat) which would take a very large LCD monitor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Freedom! 15 April 2013

This 'Ex-Pro Notebook/Laptop Support Arm' was £43.97 when I bought it, and was dispatched and sold by Express Pro.

I have only had this a short time but so far am very happy with what feels like a high quality and sturdy product - it just feels nice and solid, and it looks smart too. Assembly couldn't have been easier: stick a few bolts into the clamp system with the supplied allen key (the clamp accommodates three different coarse settings of the plate which the actual clamps pass through); tighten up the desk clamp; adjust the position of the arm, and make each joint as stiff or free as you like by adjusting each bolt with the same Allen key; use four small crosshead bolts the 'table' onto the arm (you will need to supply your own screwdriver for this), and you're done!

I have a reasonably weighty Dell XPS laptop, but feel confident that the stand is well up to supporting it. Little rubber feet to place on the 'table area' wherever you wish in order to provide grip for your laptop are provided, and seem to work well. Velcro strips are supplied as well; I don't fancy putting them on my laptop, but with the large ridge at the end of the table and the rubber feel I feel confident that my laptop is perfectly secure even when the table is at its maximum tilt (about 20 degrees from the horizontal).

I have found adjusting the position of my laptop amazingly easy, and being able to just hover my laptop over papers instead of clearing a space just makes everything so much easier, and has made my desk feel so much more spacious!

The little cable management clips underneath the arm segments are useful for keeping everything tidy, and also making sure they don't fall down the back of my desk when I unplug my laptop!
