The charger works as well as the one that came with the camera. Have not tried the cigar-lighter connector yet, but I expect it will work equally well.
Since the shoe is mounted on top of the mains plug, it's bulkier than the Canon original, so, it might not fit into crowded sockets. On the plus side, the one-piece design is more compact than the charger and trailing cable ensemble of the original. And don't forget that it comes ready with adapters for European and US sockets, which are small and can be swapped around easily.
Not sure if all traders send them out this way, but ours arrived with a generic charger base and a separate battery specific shoe. If you align them correctly, they connect relatively easily, but stiffly, which makes you wonder whether you are doing the right thing and whether something might snap any minute. Once it's put together, it becomes a solid, single-piece charger, but I know people who would have blissfully broken it during assembly. So, if you find gadgets break too easily when you are around, you might want to give this one a miss.
