Book Description

6 Oct 2008
Despite his new-found fame on ITV 5's latest soap, womaniser Dan Davis is failing to score with the ladies. Every time. And he can't understand why. All is revealed when Dan and his friend Ed Middleton come across a mysterious website - slateyourdate.com - where women rate their experiences of their exes, and where Dan is shocked to learn that long after he's given them one, his ex-girlfriends are giving him one - one out of ten, that is. Faced with the prospect of a lifetime of singledom, Dan needs to crack the code of a website that's strictly women only to find out where he's been going wrong. Then he must track down his many exes in order to put things right. Along the way, Dan discovers he has much to learn about himself. Particularly when he meets up again with Polly - and realizes he wants her back. Can Dan convince his former love he's changed? Can Ed convince Dan he needs to change in the first place? Can the two friends use their new-found knowledge to help other men in the same boat?

From the Publisher

We all know that boys can be rubbish when it comes to the dating game. We girls are entirely perfect and blameless of course.

I'm sure you all must have a similar story to share. Or know someone who does.

So share it! Yes, we have created the perfect website for you to post your bad date experience and to warn other women about the offending dating crimes of the opposite sex.

Oh, and it's also to coincide with Matt Dunn's forthcoming novel, Ex-Girlfriends United, which features a similar website.

Sorry guys, but you've had it coming for a while. Maybe you could learn how to do it better by checking out our top tips for dating on the site.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real page-turner, and very, very funny.. 16 Dec 2008
Format:Paperback
Having recently read "From Here to Paternity" I was delighted to lay my hands on a copy of Matt Dunn's latest novel and couldn't wait to start reading. I knew I was onto another winner when I found myself laughing out loud even though I was still on the first page!

Ed Middleton and Dan Davis are best friends despite differing lifestyles and very different attitudes to relationships. In the latter's case, his non-stop womanising has now come back to haunt him, as his previous conquests are now able to warn any prospective dates of his ways using a website entitled "slateyourdate dot com."

With Ed's help, Dan is forced to review his outlook on relationships and the two characters embark on a journey of self-discovery.

The book is packed with witty one-liners, creates credible characters and definitely has that page-turning quality. I found myself picking it up at every opportunity to find out what happened next. Unlike many books in the genre, the ending was nowhere near as predictable as it might have been, which was also a good touch.

Matt Dunn has been a real find for me, as there tends to be a paucity of quality lad-lit on the market. May he write many more like this, and keep his fans suitably entertained.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud, and not in a txt msg sense!! 26 April 2009
Format:Paperback
Well i'll keep this brief, the book without a doubt was a termendous read, as a 28yr old guy, I could completely associate with the characters Ed and Dan. As my title suggests it does make you laugh out loud and for someone like myself who admittingly isn't a reader, I couldn't put it down. My only negative points would be that I didn't realise there was an earlier novel in the saga and that the story had to end.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Saga Continues 10 Oct 2008
By Derrick Johnson VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
After a luke warm impression with his debut novel Best Manwhich, whilst I found funny, was so-so, I really hit pay dirt with Matt Dunn's second novel 'The Ex-boyfriend's Handbook in which we are introduced to Edward & Dan, and their different outlook to the wonderful world of women & relationships. This book is a continuation of that novel. In this saga, Edward has to do the hardest task known to man. Maintain & develop a relationship with the female of the species. Dan on the other hand has a problem of his own making. His 'Love-em-& leave-em' playboy attitude has come back to haunt him, and forces him, through his friend Ed, and the vibrant barmaid Wendy, to consider a change of lifestyle.
I really love Edward's persona, and the honest way he strives to conduct the new relationship in his life. I still find it hard to believe that he & Dan could be friends in the real world, but, we do begin to see a small change in Dan to suggest that there may be another novel in this series(please Mr. Dunn!)My only negative mark against this novel is that I thought that the emphasis would be more on the Dan Character, than on Edwards, but, like I mentioned that can be rectified on the next novel in this series.
