Product Description

Review

At last: a self-help book that doesn't claim to have all the answers. This funny and touching guide to getting dumped and living to tell the tale starts with 'we need to talk' and ends in New York, via the science of heartbreak, Scottish dancing and motorbike pyramids. It won't make it all better; but it will convince you that you're not alone. The Pizza of Rejection we've all done; being consoled in Latin by Larry Hagman, some of us haven't. --The Independent

Laugh out loud. --Glamour

Time Out

'What lifts it way above standard self-help fluff is that Heminsley is much cleverer and funnier than the form demands. . . Alongside the family vignettes and wry anecdotes is sound advice on coping with the aftermath. It's warm, witty and wise - even the bits that feel like your neurotic best friend shouting at you in a lift.'

5.0 out of 5 stars Snort out loud funny!, 10 Aug 2007

"Ex in the City" had me snorting with laughter (and the neighbour in the next garden coughing in embarrassed reply). I especially loved Alexandra Heminsley's synopsis of Giselle, her Jumper of Strangulation and the fax-beeping canary. You must read this book this summer!

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible new writing talent, 31 Jul 2007

I laughed till I cried reading Ex and the City. The Government should buy a job lot and hand them out free on the NHS to troubled females who have been through heartbreak and loss. Buy this book for any friend who has recently suffered at the hands of an insensitive male and defy them not to feel better in the space of an afternoon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and True, 13 Dec 2008
By Miss Patel "Amita Patel" (Buckinghamshire, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The book is truthful and will tell you what is going to happen to you and what you are going to do.

You don't realise that you are going through these stages after a break-up but this book breaks it up for you and explains them to you. It shows you that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and finds a way to make the most of a bad situation. It is funny and to make you feel better, the author shares her own experiences with you. It is just a shame that she is unable to take the pain away.

It is a good read and will give you advice on how to get over a break-up, but we all know that no matter what anyone says, they can't heal a brokenheart. You just need time.
