Product Description

Book Description

A unique insight into the cause and cure of anxiety, phobias, OCD and depression.

From the Back Cover

This book brings us a new understanding of Anxiety Disorders and Depression. It shows how we can cure the very cause of these problems (not just the symptoms) and can help with:-
Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia) -
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) -
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) -
Panic Disorder and PTSD -
Self-harm and BDD -
Eating Disorders -
Specific Phobias -
Depression -
Understanding and changing a life ruled by shyness or stress. -

It takes us on a journey from childhood to adult, through the experiences, thoughts and feelings that can lead to the development of these problems. How they evolve and grow, which disorders develop and why, how we strengthen them and how they become part of us.
And then, the answer ... how to turn them around, to evolve and grow through them, beyond them to become stronger and wiser for our experiences ... beyond them to become the unique, worthy individual that it is our birthright to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ for anyone suffering from anxiety, panic etc, 3 April 2008
By Bookish "Jewels" (Devon, England) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This book is utterly brilliant. For a start, it begins by explaining WHY anxiety disorders, OCD, agoraphobia and depression happen - and it makes such complete sense. Instead of feeling confused and hopeless about such a frightening condition, I began to realise that under the circumstances - it's all perfectly understandable: normal, even.
The symptoms are all explained, and they started to make sense to me as well.
The author's extensive knowledge and understanding (I could be wrong but I would guess that he's an ex-sufferer), means that he knows what he's talking about and it all makes total sense.
From the moment I started to read, I felt a great weight lifting from me: and I've had an anxiety disorder for 11 years.
The author goes on to explain how to weaken the connection and the learned habit of anxiety.
I've bought lots of 'cures' over the years, I've read dozens of books and I've undergone many treatments, including drugs. None of it really helped, but this book really is already helping me - and I haven't even finished reading it yet.
I recommend this book unreservedly, and I'll come back with another review in a few weeks to let you know how I progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent and insightful read - highly recommended, 25 Feb 2009
Having suffered to varying degrees with anxiety and issues relating to self confidence and self esteem, I have read many books on the subject. It is quite a challenge when surfing a website such as amazon to know which books are likely to be a genuine help. To a certain extent there has to be an element of pot luck in finding a real gem but perhaps that is an inevitable part of life for us all and we will all be attracted to different books for different reasons.
I have never written a review for any book but felt inclined to after reading this book. Somehow it ticked many boxes and gave much insight into the origins and nature of anxiety and depression. And it is in gaining these insights which underpin these conditions that one may find genuine empowerment and ultimately freedom from such a debilitating condition.
I had been a user of medication in the past and, although it can have its use, I believe that this book shows the way for one to emerge from a pit of despair and to gain control over one's condition without relying on such medication. Knowledge really is empowerment.
