The mode switch on this device seems to be very temperamental-in order to select a function it needs to be pushed down but unless you get it in exactly the right spot it just flashes pretty colours at you. I'm fully prepared for it to be operator error but as far as I am aware there is only one way to push something down. Other than that its a great device for the money.

I bought this to take away on my holidays and it was easy to use easy to load things onto it and a pleasure to listen to. It's lightweight and I don't know why I haven't bought one before now. I would highly recommend this item.

This product is basically a no frills MP3 player at a very reasonable price. Mine worked absolutely fine straight out of the box. Very easy to set up and use and I didn't have any problems. The sound qulaity is actually very good if you use reasonable earphones (not the ones supplied).

I just wanted this to listen to podcasts on the way to work so wasn't too bothered about fancy features. However, using it in this way I am frequently adding and deleting material and a great feature of this player is the ease with which this can be done - basically it just works like a memory stick. The other feature that attracted me is the fact that it runs on batteries - so if I run out of power mid-way through my journey I can just pop a new one in. Other than that, not a lot to say - I've been very satisfied with it's performance.

I purchased this as a replacement for a 3 year old unit which I broke.Ordered on a Sun afternoon and received Tues morning. The Firmware seems to have been updated and the volume is better and the battery seems to last longer. From memory the price hasnt changed and its an all round good buy!

I wanted an MP3 battery operated and this is exactly what I need. There is a problem, I agree about the switch it is dodgy and hit and miss. There is no logic about when it works or does not. I have long journey on planes and therefore it will pass the time to try and get to the folders. Once you get it working it is good. Surely a switch is a switch and it should not depend on luck if it functions or not. Otherwise, easy to download and for the money I don't mind if it does not last for years.

Bought an earlier version of this c.four years ago and it eventually gave up the ghost when I reverse fitted the battery (in the dark: that's my excuse). I initially replaced it with Sony NWZB172 2GB Walkman MP3 Player with USB - Black but found that poor, and so bought a new EvoDigitals player. Advantages of the EvoDigitals over the Sony:
a) Less than half the price
b) Works with older versions of Windows
c) Saves BBC podcasts direct onto player
d) Loud max volume
e) Larger display and simpler controls
f) Uses real batteries, which seem to last for hours
g) Twice the memory
h) Radio

I bought one of these and it only lasted a year before it became incapable of playing any tracks. On the upside, the USB pen-drive design allows you to easily drag the files onto the device in the first place but more importantly when the device fails you can at least rescue your music and put it on your PC until you have bought a new player. It did corrupt some of my files so I would recommend that you keep your music files backed up on PC anyway.

You can't fast-forward or rewind through tracks, only skip to the next track, and I never did figure out how to create albums because it just seemed intent on playing all 600 songs I had loaded in a random order - but never mind, the element of surprise when you're lying on a holiday sunbed can be rather nice, and that's really what I wanted it for - holidays.

Like other reviewers I didn't find the radio function worked at all well. On the plus side, the batteries lasted quite well.

I would say this is ok if you just want a cheap device for occasional use (like holidays), but if you are going to plug it into your ears every day on the commute to work I suggest you invest in something a bit more reliable with a bit more control for the user.

It stoped working after 6 months - what a pity - I could buy something better if I knew this happens.
