Product Description

Praise for To Evil Comes a Daughter:

“This is a tight thriller, a paranormal murder-mystery that stands foursquare to its brief and delivers with confidence... what I read was a book that Stephen King would be proud of... a solid read; entertaining throughout... a work written with a great assurance... it is brilliant holiday reading material.” ~ Kate Onyett, The Future Fire Reviews

“Caraway's writing style is wonderfully descriptive; he creates the beauty of the landscape in Montana just as vividly as the horror of gory murder scenes.” ~ Lilia Tombs, Horror Shock Lolipop

“Caraway does a great job on presenting believable, likeable characters in realistic circumstances without falling into the trap of making anyone too clichéd. There is also no disputing that he can write a mean mystery.” ~ Steve Pattee,

Sometimes, Love is Murder

English magazine journalist, Sam Munro, is in Montana interviewing classic car collector, Doug Bamber, for an article when, to his horror, he discovers that his hotel is haunted, the paranormal activity terrifying him, and the disruptive and restless ghost pursuing Sam wherever he goes.

To Sam’s astonishment, he also learns through Doug that a murder committed seven years earlier is directly linked to his tormented youth, catapulting him into a maelstrom of terror and vengeance when retired Chicago homicide detective turned PI, Gunther Parkinson, asks Sam to assist with his investigation. As he uncovers a horrific trail of violence and deception, Sam discovers that he has trusted the wrong person, and he could be the killer’s next victim...

Some thoughts on "To Evil Comes a Daughter "...

The Pros:
1.) an intriguing tale that the author unfolds to the reader with perfect pace and timing. A real page turner.

2.) well written... using prose that was easy to read and understand.

3.a) conversations between characters that felt normal and very authentic. The one area that I find new writers often have problems with is 'conversations and dialogues' as the frequently end up appearing stilted and contrived.
3.b) with well done dialogue comes interesting characters and character development. Such is the case in this novel.

4.) a superb ending that I never considered.

The Cons: (some minor concerns)
1.) the ending... although exciting, felt a bit contrived. Just didn't feel our hero would really do what he did.

2.) the book description on the page practically gives the whole story away. Beware of too much info.

Very well written, interesting characters, a supernatural mystery with a touch of Top Gear & Supernatural.

Sam Munro writes for a Classic car magazine, he's sent on assignment to Montana to write a article. While there he encounters strange happenings in his hotel room and around the town of Lennon, his bedroom furniture being moved, messages asking for help written on windows and someone calling his name, then comes an unexpected blast from his distant past, at a barbecue he meets the parents of Jane, his first love from school. He is shocked to hear that Jane disappeared 7 years ago, her mother hasn't given up hope that she's still alive, Gunther, her uncle a retired Chicago Police Officer and Private investigator is convinced Jane is dead and is doing his own investigation and is close to finding not only Jane's body but also her killer.

After speaking with her uncle and a family friend Doug they're sure it's Jane behind the happenings at the hotel and it her asking for Sam's help. Sam does some investigating of his own once back in England going through their painful break up and discovered a shocking revelation. Once back in Montana along with Gunther they continue to look into her disappearance.

I enjoyed this story and couldn't put it down, I enjoyed how the characters interacted, a few twists that I didn't see coming and a story where it wasn't as obvious as the nose on your face who the murder is.
