Product Description

Following on from revolutionary films such as Paranormal Activity, The Blair Witch Project and Rec, Evidence is a movie that will haunt you long after the final credits have rolled.

Four friends embark on a camping trip to an isolated wilderness to shoot a documentary one of them is making.

On the first night the group hear blood-curdling cries and see unexplainable shadows surrounding the camp causing them to question whether they should leave. Suddenly the night takes a terrifying turn when one of the group goes missing and the remaining three realise they are being brutally hunted... but by what?

Evidence is a bone chilling found footage delight. Once the horrors begin they do not stop dragging the audience on a scare-a-second ride that ends with a shocking twist...

4.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag - you'll either love it or hate it 24 Mar 2013
Format:DVD
The `found footage' sub-section of the horror genre is getting more and more overused with every new straight-to-DVD release, so my hopes weren't high when I sat down to watch `Evidence' (a film with a particularly uninspired title).

For the most part, I got what I expected. If you look at comments about the film online, you'll see that pretty much everyone agrees that the first half of the movie is pretty slow and run-of-the-mill. You have four (particularly unlikeable) youngsters who - for whatever reason - decide to film an entire camping trip. So, once you've suspended your disbelief at the constant need for filming every single moment of the trip, you sit back and watch things start to go slowly wrong. Cue mandatory sinister rustling of bushes, running screaming through woods, shaky camerawork, cries of "What was that?" then arguing with the cameraman for his constant shoving of a lens in peoples faces.

So far, so ordinary. However, the second half changes pace. This is the part you'll either love or hate. Some people have even said that it seems like two different films spliced together. The second half is pretty much non-stop action and chasing. Granted there's still a lot of shaky camerawork, covering up for lack of budget, but it's still a decent attempt to add something new to the `found footage' genre.

I would say `Spoilers' here, but there's not much I can tell you as to what (definitely) happens in the second half. There are no `explanations' as to what's going on. You get a good idea of what they've stumbled upon, but no one ever sits down and lets you know the exact whys and hows of what's happening all around them. This too, you'll either love for its vagueness or hate because you're left in the dark.

4.0 out of 5 stars Read the front cover... 24 Mar 2012
Format:DVD
As soon as I saw that this was going to be another foray into hand held horror, I yawned, settled back and thought to myself I'd give it half an hour. The genre is proving proving to be little more than an excuse for churning out low budget open ended narratives in a style likely to give you eye strain. `Evidence' started out as a typically such exercise in `yawnography'. However, the performances were compelling, there were elements of actual characterisation and moments of genuine creepiness - so I persevered... I'm so glad I did. The film developed rapidly into a genre whore, splicing together elements from creature features, post apocalyptic epics and mad science- all wrapped together in a cold blanket of horror - genuine jumps and moments of menace. Half way through, just at the point when you think you can't watch another hand held run through the undergrowth, it kicks in - stick with it!
Four starts - the usual limitations of the genre, a requirement to really suspend your disbelief in terms of continuity - you know the score - but definitely well worth the effort and the investigation. For once the sell line on the front - that this film delivers the unexpected like few films do - is absolutely right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Horromentries at their best 23 Mar 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I loved this film, admittedly i have a soft spot for handheld films (Horromentry), the film has spent very little on itself but it is incrediably effective. It all comes down to sound and camera work, actors are ok, there is a little gore but strangely enough i was scared throughout - i must add that last time i was scared from a horror was BLAIR WITCH and im a complete horror geek so that in itself shows you how effective this film was. i wont compare it to other films as that will give away the films scares but even if you dont like horromentries have a crack at this - its worth it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Evidence is evidently not very good... 26 Jun 2012
By James
Format:DVD
I felt compelled to write a quick review as judging by the rave reviews posted on here by other amazon customers, you would be misled into thinking this title is actually worth two hours of your time.

Unfortunately it's quite the opposite. I don't mind this style of film; I found Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity quite decent at what they offered. This is just a cheap rip-off incorporating bits and pieces from different genres and blended into the catastrophe they call Evidence.

My biggest gripe with this film is that it's just not scary - not even in the slightest. I kept watching as I kept thinking the film is bound to take off sooner or later. Well I was wrong on both counts; it never did. I found it unexciting and unstimulating. Those creature things reminded me of a cross between Critters and Big Foot - they were quite laughable to the extent that at times I thought I was watching a horror comedy. And I'm almost sure that the directors were trying to do the opposite.

I don't give too many films 1 star but after sifting through this rubbish it would be an injustice to give it any higher. Avoid.

This is essentially a flop.

I have never had a problem with the "footage found" genre although in my opinion it is more or less done now apart from sequels and prequels. Read more
