Book Description

With a Referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU now firmly on the cards it is time for an open, accessible and accurate book about the EU that is free from jargon and prejudice. This is that book.
The aim of this book is to inform the reader about the EU and the issues surrounding it. The book will achieve this without seeking to prejudice people into thinking one way or the other but will remain accessible, interesting and in many parts offer the reader an enjoyable grounding in all they need and want to know about the European Union. It will use the author’s special knowledge of being at the heart of the EU debate for over a decade and convey this to all those that purchase this book.
It will give the reader insights insight into how things work in the EU, the personalities involved, how the EU interacts with national governments and the wider world and of course the reader themselves.
This book:
• Focuses on a subject that is becoming increasingly relevant both in Britain and on the continent
• Covers many regions and countries
• Includes original features which give a new perspective on the EU
• Is ideal for serialisation, the British press often report on books about the European Union. It is a hot debate that will not go away.
This book will explain to the reader what they need to know and take advantage of a proven interest in an increasingly important topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great content but... 25 Dec. 2013

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The breadth of content is excellent but has anyone taken the time to proofread / edit the spelling and syntax ? I have never read a book with so many glaring errors !
Nevertheless, it should be mandatory reading for anyone wishing to take part in an in/out referendum.

... you have to have a sharp shovel to find them. I would guess that the text was converted by computer by OCR or even speech to text, and then sent straight to the printer. The chapter structure is clear but the section and paragraph levels are less coherent.

Having said all that, I found that this was a useful update supplement (though not in the same class) for North and Booker's must have definitive truth about the EU: The Great Deception: Can the European Survive, which even in the second edition takes the narrative only to 2005.
