Excellent--All-inclusive, Detailed, Concise Reference 12 April 2000
By Charlotte F. Sigmon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
While this book may be too much for the beginner, it is an excellent guide for those who are intermediate or more experienced textile artists. It is an excellent, step-by-step guide to many different techniques of fabric painting. The authors provide clear, concise instructions and beautiful photos to guide you through each procedure. Tools and equipment are thoroughly described and listed with a list of mail order suppliers at the end of the book. I love this book! I use it on a regular basis for inspiration and reference.

not for beginners 26 Jan 2009
By Midwest Master Gardener - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
As a previous review stated, this book is not really for beginners (so I think the title is a bit deceptive, although unintentionally so). It seemed to me that they made some assumptions about what their readers know, because I was confused in reading descriptions of the various techniques and felt that some basic information was left out. It was published in 1995 in England, so it seems a bit dated (although it may not be ... I've only recently started reading about fabric painting). Most of the supply sources mentioned in the appendix are in England.

Having said that - it is certainly a good read if you'd like to learn more about many of the different techniques of fabric painting. I was particularly impressed with the beautiful and unique patterns of the marbling technique, which requires a lot more work than most.

I would recommend that you check this book out from the library before deciding to buy it.

Format:Paperback
Excellent resource for students studying fabric painting. It discusses how textiles are handled before paints can be applied. Great for art, design, and fashion courses.
